Over time all the kit manufacturers have tweeked their moulds and body shapes. They have all now evolved into their own interpretations of the original.

Re: the DAX - who knows? mine is an 01/85 body, and the build was started in WA, so maybe it IS the DAX that the original G-Force was flopped off (would explain why David's G-Force and my DAX are d@mned near identical).

There have been comments (on another, unnamed forum) that the original DAX was flopped off CSX31?? (can't remember, but it was a roadster, not an S/C), but who really knows? I contacted DJ Sportcars and they cannot provide me with any info about a twenty year old chassis and body, since they have made so many changes (no original construction manuals or engineering info - they didn't start making their own chassis' till mid '85). %/

I think they all look great ....

SCOBRAC 04-04-2005 11:52 PM

Contemporary, ERA and Shelby... In that order.

302cobra 04-05-2005 01:36 AM

SCOBRAC, Shelby last!!! Why?? I asked for closeness to original, and you dont get any more original thn the original manufacturer!!!

albanycobra 04-05-2005 06:20 AM

I wish i could buy into this thread:CRY:
But i don't know where mine came from, so i will
assume it's the most correct replica;)

boxhead 04-05-2005 06:25 AM

Dont worry about it Albany, everyone thinks that there Cobra is the best, most accurate shape.

You should see the shape of my headlights, there just like the genuine ones :D

Mine has to be close with a 302 and 4 spd single rail:LOL:

boxhead 04-05-2005 06:42 AM

Mine also has 4 wheels, just like a real Cobra

Just looking at your Post I guess you still do not have an idea as to the origin of the body.

Is the body good enough to go on with or would it be cheaper in the long run to grab a Classic Revival or Harrison etc. if and when you sell that great little open wheeler..

Ok, back to the Thread, I have a Homebush and it was from an Arntz. Hell if anyone has a ***** about ripping of bodies it should be some guy at Arntz and not CSI..

Batman

Did I see some comparison between a blonde and an Esky?. You cannot have both.

Guess, both will eventually give you a headache, so I'll go for the Esky. Now who did they rip that idea from... :3DSMILE:

Computerworks,

Ron,

Damn good of you to move this 'Thread' off the 'ALL COBRA TALK' and put it on the Australian Forum..as if we don't have enough to argue about over here already..

You had better stop doing that, or I'll start a sb100 'Thread' over there again or "I"m dying and I want my Cobra.....

Hi Bernie,
Not trying to highjack thread.
My body is in ok condition and worth continueing with.
Truth is i have fallen for Beryl.
I have drawn up my chassis and sent it off to have
it FEA tested. This way the Engineer will accept the
chassis and not require a Torsion test.

Hopeing to start cutting steel in 5 weeks time.
:)

That's good news. I thought the body may have been a little worse for wear after reading the Posts.

It has sagged but since it has been sitting on the support
frame i made it seems ok. I had a painter take a look at
it .He reckons there are some small spots were the gel coat will
need sanding off. But overall he seems to think it will paint up ok.
He estimated approx $3500 for a 2pak base colour paint job.

boxhead 04-05-2005 03:34 PM

So Beryl it is.
I knew this forum was good for helping others. :D

I really dont know the true origin of your body but my guess would have been one of the suppliers that are in WA.

The paint quote sounds good at $3500. Wonder if he needs any more work.
