correct temp for thermo fans
Hi Boys and Girls,
My standard XR8 302 (2002) is running at 90 to 100 celcius. I have not seen the thermo fan come on yet? Is this temp to hot or OK? |
I am fairly sure that the fans cut in at about 102 - 105 degrees on the falcon, same temp as the commodore.

Thermo Fan
I found that by setting my thermo fan at around 88 I don't get into trouble. My radiator is a little flat and the air tends to go over the top. Got some sheet metal work to do. When I pull up at the lights etc the temperature can rise rather dramaticly with the fan set too high. When I had it set higher one day I pulled up at Ringwood Speedo's and when I came out there was water everywhere. The bottom radiator hose had blown off. The staff
carried out bottles of water to refill the radiator. God bless em. When ever I know I am going to pull up and stop I always turn the fan on manually for a bit to help cool the beast down. My fan is totally auto with no kill switch. Unfortuately it is a pain in the butt when you stop somewhere and the residual heat turns the fan on Richard |
Thanks guys

Cameron on my DRB I have an auto fan with manual overide.
It cuts in at 88 degrees and never had to have the need to use the manual overide even in this heat. Works well. |
