Boxheads Wiring Harness.

I was looking through your gallery and noticed that youve bought the same harness as me. Did you get yours locally or overseas? I got mine through Finishline. The question I wanted to ask is have you bought any conections and if so what type, and does anyone know if there are other types of connections other than the red and blue type available from most outlets?

Regards.

Hi Mando
If you go to any auto electritian they should have a good supply of male and female connections that will join up to ten wires in the one plug
In my gallery there are some pics where you can see some plugs that connect to my dash and they look alot better and are less prone to loosing there circuit through vibration

regards
Paul

Mando,
Dicksmith or Electronics are us, stock loads of that gear but will require a crimper or soldering iron.

Farnell components (www.farnell.com) have loads of great stuff and if you don't want to buy over the net any L&H, mm electrical store or the like will be able to order what ever you want. Stuff like 'p' clips for mounting your looms, flexible conduit or spiral wrap for wrapping up looms can all be found.

Give me a ring if you need help.

Talk to you soon Gav

Mando,
How did you mount your fuel tank?
I don't have any photos with it in the car.
Have you used the eyelets to support it?
Gav

Hi there Mando, I bought my harness local (thanks to Mike)
With the connectors I purchased these from the local motorbike store as recommended by another member (Barry Nelson), the local store had a catalogue and I ordered all my connectors through it.
They are nice and neat little moulded multi pin connectors, so all joins will be through a proper harness with soldered on terminals in dedicated plugs.

Hi ledge,

I noticed in your gallery (photos of your demister) the (tiny) white connector with the wires coming out of it - I assume thats the fan - where did you get it?

cheers ...

boxhead 05-15-2005 09:23 PM

If you look in my gallery at the picture of the harness you will see a plastic bag with my name on it, these are all the terminals I purchased seperatly.
I will get some pics of the terminals for you so you can see the size of them.

Mando 05-15-2005 11:24 PM

Thanks Boxhead, that will be really helpful. Maybe one of the motorcycle shops down here will have a catalogue similar to the one you ordered from. Ill start asking around.
Gavin I mounted my tank using the straps that come with the tank cut shorter, but I used fixings usually found on yachts to tension the straps. Ill take some pictures and post them towards the middle of this week.

Regards.

Hi Ralph_C
Yes that is the demister fan and i got it from Warwick (Cobra Kits) Im sure he would sell just the fan unit or at least let you know where to get the from . It works really well and will be more than good enough to pass rego

Paul

I have added some pics for you Mando, I have included a business card and a 50c piece as a size reference.
They come in 3 pin (large and small) 4 pin and 6 pin, I think there are other sizes but I figured I would use these first and see how I go.

The picture showing all terminals also has all the connectors that are used and they all up cost $30.00

Ralph_C 05-16-2005 05:02 PM

Thanks Paul,

I have a torana fan in there at the moment and it intrudes too much into the passenger footwell - looking at options for rebuilding the heater/demister setup while using minimal space - this may just be a goer, so I'll contact Warwick (but his website says $250 for a kit) ....
