My run of luck with the Cobra hasn't improved...

As this weekend was the last weekend before I retire my car indefinitely to make some changes, I thought Dad and I would go straight from the monthly Cobra gathering at Sanctuary Cove to the National round of Nations Cup / Sports sedans / F3, etc at Qld Raceway.

As I'm sure everyone does, I found a nice safe spot inside the pits to leave the Cobra. Here's what I found when I went back to the car an hour later.... No note, and nobody saw anything. Hmmmm.

BASTARDS!!!

Sorry Computerworks, but that is simply not called for.

Feel for you Craig!!!!

May the guy or girl who did it experience bad luck for the next week.

Karma - It will get them!

boxhead 07-03-2005 01:56 AM

I hope the bad luck runs for longer than just 1 week.

Rebel1 07-03-2005 02:39 AM

Bluddy hell...what can one say.

That is one low act

Tony Radford 07-03-2005 05:14 AM

That's unbelievable! Does it look like it was intentionally worked over (as opposed to accidentally hit)? From the looks of the photo, it doesn't appear to have simply been run into.

Carsten 07-03-2005 05:48 AM

Yep..this is a sign of the current society we live in here in the civilized world..idiots..

TBH it looks like the underside of a bumper fitted to a pickup or SUV that has grazed the nose. Most likely happened whilst the drunk prat was reversing. I know as I had similiar damage to my first car (a Pontiac Fiero) from a jacked up F150

15 years ago, when i was in the first Desert Storm war, my wife was driving my Turbo Eclipse, and some old guy in a pickup backed up to get a better angle to park his pickup, she couldn't get it in reverse fast enough, he backed up over the hood, which needed a replacement, bumber cover, etc.

My guess, like the others, is that some tall truck did it.

Once, i was at a stoplight, right next to a small miata i think, which which was right in front of a big Peterbuilt truck, and when the light turned green, the truck did not see or remember the small car right in front of his bumper, and proceeded to grind right up over the back end of the sports car, before we could honk and yell enough to get him stopped.

I would get it fixed asap, it helps to put the miserable memory behind you.

Craig,
When it rains it pours. Just a sign of some people! The fact that somebody would just leave without giving you all of their info is hard to believe. A few years back I saw a driver back into another car. The driver looked around to see if anybody else was around so I walked over to the cars.
The bad driver then left a paper on the windshield but could not leave quick enough. Something just felt wrong so I jotted down the cars plate # and left my card telling owner I saw it happen and call if needed. About a week later I got a call from the cops wanting a report from me because all info left by offending car was bogus.
In the end the bad guy got what he deserved from cops and his insurance paid for all repairs SO THE GOOD GUYS DO WIN NOW & THEN !! Place a flyer around asking if anybody saw it happen, nothing to loose but a little effort.
On the last drive (for a while) issue, my hopes and feelings are with you. Good things happen to good people even if it does take longer than ya hoped. Hang in their

Geez Craig, that is absolutely horrible.

Nobody saw a thing!!! That just frigin figures.

A curse upon this vial person: "May the fleas of 1000 camels infest your body..all at once."

TMK 2002 07-03-2005 10:44 PM

My deepest sympathy Craig... damn them all to hell. If you cant reverse your car/truck, you shouldnt be allowed on the road!

Just cause you can do it OK one way, doesnt mean you are OK going in reverse...

Fix it, and you will feel better.

Rebel1 07-04-2005 12:42 AM

I know how demoralizing this must be to Craig...he put his heart and soul into that car.

PCC 07-04-2005 04:06 AM

Craig,

Looks like you might be racing now!

I'll come and support you if you go on the track.

I can see a sponsorship deal coming up!!!

Its got to be an error of judgement as I have yet to find one person who didn't admire the Cobra. A Ferrari maybe, a Porsche definitely, but not a Cobra!

If he was in a Landcruiser and had a beer or two, maybe he never even noticed!!

I have a Landcruiser - 3 years old and it has picked up more knocks from the Shopping Centre than it has ever had off road!

People just don't care anymore.

That's just WRONG!
I hope you find that farsighted corksocker and give him a little....

750hp 07-05-2005 02:15 AM

It doesn't look like it was done with any malice. Probably just some goose not looking where he was reversing. I suppose it's better that it was just my car there rather than the same idiot backing over a kid wandering around looking at all of the cars.

The bit of white plastic in front of the number plate has broken off their rear bumper. I'll have it in my pocket anytime I'm up at Qld Raceway in the future.
