I've been looking at running an aero screen as well. I plan to do a full width on like Pat Buckley made for his car. The screen will be attache to the body via a row of nutserts that will be hidden under the rubber lip when the regular screen is installed. I figure I'll make the screen from a sheet of lexane. Since there is't much of a curve to it it won't need to be heated and bent. The bottom edge strip will be made from aluminium that I'll fold and stretch to fit. There's a neat combinaton shrinker stretcher machine made by speedwerks that'll do the job. Check out Pat's Aero screen: |

I wonder how you are getting on with your Aeroscreen similar to Pat Buckleys nice example? This week I am having made a two piece base out of about 20 gauge steel done in English wheel machine, both curves will be separate and then welded and finished, the guy is an restoration expert and he reckons that is easier to do! I think the 48" x 9" is a good size, would have like to come out further and cover the original screen upright slots but they dont really matter as long as the screen suits the car!!! |

The aero screen worked out fine. I did the angle across the bottom out of a strip of aluminium sheet bent at 45 degrees. I worked the curves into it using a shrinker/stretcher machine I bought. I cut the screen itself from 3mm Lexane sheet because it's shatterproof. This is my first atempt and Im working on another one. The next one will have a little more rake and will also be curved back towards the ends. It was quite effective on the track and took the wind blast away. Some people liked it others hated the look but I like it so that's all that matters. I made this one a bit shorter as I plan to have it fitted for engineering. I wanted it low enough that it wasn't in your line of vision at all that way I could say it was just a wind deflector and not optical. A taller version would be more livable on the road when not wearing a helmet. Cheers Michael |

I have used a single aero screen all one piece (cant get my photos small enough to upload CC with this old Mac computer) but it worked extremely well, better than an original screen with less wind buffeting, same height as yours! |
