Nationals update
This just in from Track Management at Wakefield Park; in addition to mandatory roll bars in all comp events, race class drivers must wear race suits
 Tried to attach letter - couldn't work it out. |
If they make to many restrictions to get your car on the track it may prevent alot of people going.
I for 1 honestly wouldnt but a race suit to use once a year. |
I got a box of those white plastic disposable suits. More than happy to hand them out:LOL:
|
I'll bring the poster paints, and you can all sit down and paint 'em up in your team colours.

Might be a ploy to evict us from a prime weekend. |
Hi all

Ledge, should be 1,& 2 October
|
Any rumours of you fellas running around in body paint is likely to mobilise greenpeace. ;) :)
|
Anyone no were to buy a race suit at a resnable price? I asume they will need to be cams approved
this weekend is going to cost me a small fortune. Craig W |
I don't think I will be in the Race group (but not having been to a Nationals, I have no idea what I might be doing, other than recovering).
But, I have a race suit and will throw it in as a loaner for anyone who may not have one. Cameron |
Might take you up on the race suit offer, Cameron. Can't guarantee it'll come back the same colour%/ **)
Richard |
Whatever could you do that will change it's colour from chocolate brown?
 On second thoughts, don't answer that %/ Cameron |
Don't get too hung up on race suits, this requirement is for "open class" only, although wearing a suit wouldn't hurt, only the wallet.
Cobra.au, your right, its not a cheap weekend. Last year for me was about 800 bucks and I live only an hour from the track. |
Roll bars & race suits
Race suits and roll bars for open class I agree with as these guys race like there racing for sheep stations.
But roll bars for street class who are mainly just club members having a good day out. How substantial will the roll bars have to be as I would not like to go to all the expenses of the weekend and find that a roll bar fabricated for the weekend is later rejected at scrutineering. If race suits are brought in for street class I personally won't attend as I can't justify buying a suit, gloves and shoes to wear once a year. Also I have looked at many rollbars on Cobras at shows and a lot of them are not functional and for show only. What about this senario, MG car club front up for a club day do they all have to have roll bars fitted. Just my $0.02 worth. Cheers, Bryan Wilson PS I do have a fully functional roll bar. |
Oh well, if it all goes south, I have a fully functional wet bar...
And plenty of Cobra Parking :3DSMILE: Cameron |
Mr. Parsons esquire,
You may well be a very sorry man for suggesting such a thing. |
Craig,
Your right about the Nationals being expensive. Last year I got in three laps before it was rained out. Still wouldn't miss this year though. The Shelby fest put on by the Victorian club at Easter was a real blast and I got in about 60 odd laps plus a few runs down the quarter and it only cost me a $1800 clutch:CRY:   . Still wont miss next year though. Try Race and Rally (02) 97094655 or Revolution Race on (029648 4044) for driving suits. They have budget models that are not all that expensive. There also nice and warm. As for the roll bar issue its a Wakefield requirement and I think worthwhile as things can go wrong . Phil:D |
