Braided Lines
I know there have been posts before regarding braided lines and the incompatability with Premium unleaded fuels.
I went to Earls the other day and they were a little coy about the subject, but finally they suggested that Teflon hose should be used. How much of an issue is this, I have seen most cars with the regualr hose, I would prefer this as there is a larger range of colours available (Vain I Know But!!!) and obviously it is much cheaper, I intend to use hard lines for the rest of the plumbing. I am interested to know how long it will stand up to the fuel? Is it immediate or do you get reasonable life out of it??? Phil |
I have had braided lines (short sections) installed for about 3 years now with not problems or sign of problems to come.

Hi Phil
If you are in the market for braided lines, fuel pumps, regulators etc let me know and I will do a good deal for you. Cheers Craig W |
Phil:
Depending on what material is used in the lines they may break down over time or they may not. The only draw back to teflon braided lines is their hard to fine above a -3 or -4 and they can be pretty expensive. You might try contacting Aeroquip directly and ask them about their lines. They may be slightly more expensive than Earl's, Russel or Summit's house brands but since it all appears to have started with Aeroquip I would expect that their lines rated for fuels should hold up. Again, contact them and find out what they say before you commit. DonC |
Phil,
Earls catalogue has a disclaimer about using the braided lines and premium fuel. All my braided lines have gone hard, no obvious leaks yet but you can smell fuel. I am changing to teflon. Better still do what Mike M has done and design out flexibles as much as possible. Motorsport Connection have all the good info on this and yes Craig is the person to see re Superflow connections...much better value than Earls. Regards, Phil:) :) |
