Clutch & Brake Pedals for CR

Hi guys,

Yep another CR builder, looking at the pedals needed to fit to the CR are there some donor units that work or should i just order them from Ian. Can any of you advanced CR builders recommend alternatives to standard. I also picked up an accelerator as per manual and first look into foot well it looks like a no go, any clues?

I have just bought my brake pedal (I'm running an auto) from Ian and I think most everyone else is too.
The pedal linkages and pivot points are critical so you would need somthing to copy from, so my logical thinking told me to buy Ians and dick around with other less critical bits!!
I haven't organised a throttle pedal yet but have the cable positioned and length organised so it should be a no brainer.

Look forward to following your build

I bought my pedals from Ian aswell.
I too am in the same frame of mind as Gav and figured a safety item such as Brake pedals should not be something cut and shut from something else.
I also have my accelerator cable, it is rather long but this way I can keep it out of sight, it is from a Mazda Bongo van and loops around under the guard lip on the right hand side, accross the front under the bonnet hinges, along the L/H inner guard and inside the engine wiring loom to the throttle body.

Hi Nigel,
I too will go with Ian's pedal setup for the reasons mentioned above. I have only just ordered them from Ian last week in fact.

Although it's still sitting in my 'to do' pile, I can see that the accelerator pedal will require a little modification!! The standard pedal, as recommended in the 'comprehensive build manual' kicks out to the right and in its unmodified state will foul on the side of the foot well. Looking at a few of the other guys posts, it looks like we will need to bend the pedal arm so it comes down more vertically or even a little to the left.

Hope this made sense.

I too went with Ians setup. Not sure what the cost is but I would think it would quite a job to come up with your own. I still had to heat & bend the brake/clutch pedals over towards the tunnel about 25mm to be more comfy. I used a Ford EA accel. pedal which mounted quite easily but also had to bend the arm to suit a good position. I used the EA cable also, had to reduce its length and fitted new s/steel wire inside and made up the lug at the T/body end. My complaint would be that the pedal travel is a bit too long.

Accel Pedal

Luke,

When i looked at the manual anf the real part they are quite different, when i emailed Ian he explained the one in the manual (picture) is not the same as the EA ford he went with the ford pedal as it is a lot cheaper than the one pictured. Ian quoted $350 for pedals 3 off including the balance bar is that what you ordered.

Hi Nigel,
I had already purchased my accelerator pedal, so all I have bought from Ian is the Brake and clutch pedals (incl. ballance bar). Do you know where the accelerator pedal in the picture came from??

Accel Pedal

Hi Luke,

When i spoke with Ian he didn't say where or what the accelerator pedal assy in the pic was from and i didn't ask at the time. Have your pedals turned up yet.

Nigel,
I spoke with Ian this morning and he mentioned that my pedals are currently in his shop. I've also ordered my springs from him and he is waiting for them to turn up (2-3 weeks) before shipping the whole lot.

Luke....
