Yes I have just joined I am moving to Brisbane soon from USA and will build a Cobra. Have talked to a number of people and like the Harrison kit. I am looking at bringing parts over with me. What pitfalls do I need to be aware of. I am looking at a LS1 04 GTO (Monaro) motor and box (4k US FOR 10000k). Will it be aceptable in Queensland. What other parts would be usefull to bring with me. I am not sure how you will go with the emissions side of things with the US spec emissions.
Other bits I would bring that come to mind. Steering wheel, Side pipes (fitted after rego), gas cap assy, full set of gauges and senders (must be kph), lock & handle set, Possably screen assy depending on cost to get here, I am not sure about rims but these could be these are possably best bought if you know what size and offset. |

The 04 ls1 will not be a problem in Qld it meets and exceedes the current requirements at the moment which are inplace until the end of 07 but a 04 ls1 will be good for a few more years after that i think . that is if the dot dont change things around. things that will not be any good are a windscreen glass/headlights (we drive on the other side of the road ) /seatbelts . oh and a left hand drive steering wheel.:LOL: . any thing else should be fine but i would bring as much as you can for the build its cheaper over there. dont forget your pin drive halibrands .if you have any specific enquires pm me.

Well what i would do is if you are not coming over for a year or so go and buy a Kirkham or something simmilar with a 427 and webers then after you have owned it in USA for a year you can bring the whole car over and register it as a personal import . Then you will have an awsome car. Regards Paul |
Well your coming to the best place to own a Cobra. We have a very active club here & fantastic weather.
Well we all love Harrison Cobra's. Considering Harrison will be local to you in Brisbane, it's really hard to go past it. You won't have a problem getting that 04 LS1 engine approved here in Brisbane. |

I am coming over in 6 weeks (short notice) and missed opportunity to import a car.:CRY: I am bringing the upgraded 12.5" Monaro rotors and calipers. Windscreen needs to fit car so will buy that in Aussie. Another motor I have looked at is the Hemi Charger motor but I am not sure if anyone in Brisbane could tune it(lots of electronic control). Wheels I will buy in Aussie as well. The gauges are interesting thought.Being (as some refer) on the dark side what mix /make of guage is preferable **) |
Any brand of gauge is ok- as I mentioned the only requirement as far as adr goes is that it must read in Kph.
Also they are not supposed to have a chrome surround but that is fixed by applying black tape to the chrome and then once passed rego somehow the speed of driving seems to rip every piece of black tape off all the shiney bits. Being a member of the darkside (chevy engine) doesnt really affect the type or brand of gauge required. |
G'day, the speedo odometer must have a SIX digit display. It can read mph, kph, or gallons per mile whatever...! This is my experience in NSW. The RTA has no Idea ! (spellcheck says RAT )
