LS2 oil usage
Hi all,
One of the guys I work with has one of the current VZ Clubsports with the ls2 engine and over the last couple of weeks noticed it has started using excessive amounts of oil. The car's done about 20000km and is using about 1ltr/4000km:eek: . When he questioned Holden on this they mentioned to him that there have been a couple of reports of this problem. Apparently his is the second case in Aust. to exhibit this problem and the problem is so new that new parts need to be manufactured to fix. Although still a little way needing an engine myself, I am/was leaning towards the ls2. Has anyone else heard of these issues:confused:  Luke.... |
Nuh...not me....not heard nuffin :3DSMILE:
Lots of fellas here know heaps about em tho. :D |
i have the ls2 6ltr ,10.5 k,s not using oil yet.

Few more minor bits and you have awesome engine. :JEKYLHYDE Wash my mouth with soap. shame! shame! :o |
I havent heard any reports or issues through my end of the Holden grapevine.
|
There a whispers of 'two' using oil in Vic. Probably a bit early to speculate the LS2 is heading down the same path as the minority of early LS1's.
The reason could be totally unrelated to the previous issues with the LS1. Probable a case of the panic button being hit because it is a LS motor. We dont seem to hear about the subarus, toyotas, and fords using oil. |

Les,
The LS2 motor can now be picked up new for $7K...not that you'd be interested in one of those recyled aluminium can thingies....there is also one available dismantled for $4K...got my eye on that one. Enjoy the weekend. Regards, Phil:) |

Lol....yep wide open.  What I meant was, Im sure all the mentioned brands have oil issues, but we dont hear of them. Sled |
Yeah..they are getting cheaper by the month. ;)
Must be all the empty cans discarded by the Queenslanders after the State of Origin match. By the time ya buy a starter, alternator, air flow thingy, harness and puter, flywheel etc., then ya wont have much change from $10,000 anyways. :p Think I'll drink more cans. :D :D |
Dont worry, They all do have cars that use oil.
And I am saying this after seeing it with my own 2 eyes. The reason why there is more said about the LS1 is that there are alot more of them out there than the other brands. There are 2 engines that come to mind that as a percentage would no doubt be higher than the LS1 ever was. |
