Gav's Bling Bling

I picked up my wheels on Friday and what do you think?
I dropped into Mikes on the way home but the wheels look much better on mine than Mikes:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

You'll just have to look in my gallery these attachments suck.
Good thing I can choose wheels better than I can drive a PC

Very cool Gav!

Nice sidepipes too.....

Looking good there Gav, I like the look of your wheels, are they called salt flat races (or something similar)?

GAV MILDURA 07-16-2006 06:26 AM

Yup,
They're American Racing Wheels 'Salt Flats'
I should have some rubber by the end of the week and the chariot can stand on its own!!

Aussie Mike 07-16-2006 08:05 AM

Sorry Gav but they look much better on my car.

Great looking wheel. Makes me want to call Tony and ask If he'll supply me an un drilled center so I can try and make it work with my pin drive hubs.

Great choice of wheel Gav, It'll look fantastic sitting on it's own 4 feet.

BTW send me your email address and I'll send the rest of the pics through.

Cheers

Gav
great looking wheels very original and will look great with rubber. What size did you go for ? I have seen them on a couple of the US websites ans always thought they were great. I have some cobra books and the appear on some early racing cobras (Allan Grant's yellow 289) Did you import them from the states or from local agent

Hows progress with the rest of the project going,

Cheers Leeroy

Spoke to Tony at AJ's wheels. American racing won't supply centers un drilled. They will only do complete wheels. There goes my pin drive idea out the window

Probably just as well. I don't need any more distractions.

Cheers

Leeroy,
I bought them from AJ wheel centre in Bayswater who imported them direct from American Racing Wheels.
I am still waiting for the centre spinners, they bolt on the same way as the centre caps now, one set for rego one set for play!
I have chosen 17x8 in front and 17x9.5 in rear. They don't make them any bigger than 17" and I have the most positive offset they can build.
I wanted a wheel that was used on cobras but wanted somthing a bit different at the same time.

Hi Gavin, wheels look great! Be good to see them with rubber on the ground. Good choice.

Regards.

You've probably already seen these guys, but if you are not shy on cash, you can go with Image wheels(www.imagewheels.co.uk). They do a 3-piece Halibrand & BRM replica wheel in both lug nut & pin drive configuration. They do them up to 18" and any width up to 16".

I was tempted to grab a set of polished pin drive 18" BRM's. Too rich for me. So now going back to either US Billet wheels or Simmons/ROH 3-piece wheels. Simmons apparently do a true 18" reverse rim now. I wonder whether Simmons have increased their outer rim widths for their 18" range. All the wide wheels I have seen from them in 17" have had the bolt up hub made thicker as they did not have outer rims wide enough for Gulf flared GT40. Interesting that ROH seems to supply wider outer rims. And I wonder if I will be able to talk either into supplying an 18 x 13".
