gear stick hole

yes fellas its that time for me now, putting the gear box in and the body on my CR.
I,m after the measurement for the hole where the gear stick pokes out.
Either from the back forward or from the firewall back.
Beacuse i cant be stuffed lowering the body down close enough marking it and taking it off to cut it.
Thanks

The time is drawing near.

I would love to know too.

Perhaps the measurement back from the crease in the tunnel would be best.

I was going to work off this pic of Mike's.

You guys down under have such strange sounding names to some of us USA types...

For a second I thought "Gear Stick Hole" might be a small town in the out back somewhere.

...wait... IS it a small town in the out back some where? :D A suberb of Alice Springs maybe? :JEKYLHYDE

Aussie Mike 07-28-2006 07:07 AM

The center of my gear stick appears 700mm forward from the top of the tunnel where it meets the rear bulkhead. The hole is also pretty much in the center of the tunnel, maybe off to the left by half an inch.

The shift location on the Mal Wood box may be a little different to my conversion but it'll be pretty close i.e. within an inch or so.

Cheers

Hey there Slick - Watch the Alice Springs jokes, that is where I live and it is a great place.
But we do have some very weird sounding places.
Ie : Nganampa pronounced NANNAPA

Excaliber 07-28-2006 08:32 PM

Hmmm,,, almost as strange as Kaaawa (yeah, I spelled it right, KA-AH-AHH-VA, W's are prounounced like a V)!

I'll have to Google Alice Springs and check out more about Aussie Land in general, I've benn thinking about an 'invasion' for some time now. :D

Beejay 07-29-2006 07:10 AM

mIKE,

Is your shifter bolted on with two bolts, or is it one piece with the B@M assembly?

Thanks,
Ben

Aussie Mike 07-29-2006 07:50 AM

I've used a couple of different versions of shifter. The lever on the earlier ones are solid investment cast stainless steel. The later ones are made from 22mm stainless rod. Both of them are one piece.

This is the early version:

Here's the later one:

Jees Mike

decisions decisions!!!

Aussie Mike 07-30-2006 05:08 PM

No decision involved there Slowy. I've done a 1/2 dozen or so of these boxes now use the shifter that's available. The investment cast version is no longer available and it's been superceded with the blue anodized one.

Cheers
