DRB owners please help
Hey all
In my gallery they is a photo of my fuel tank and l was wondering if anyone knew what the two pipe are for marked unknow?? I think this tank was setup for a carby instead of EFI. If so how can l block them up. Please help as lm tring to get rid of petrol smells in the boot. |

Checked your layout against mine and I don't have the two pipe arrangement like yours (mine's an efi DRB) Also notice that you do have a breather pipe but you don't seem to have a filler overflow pipe. Not sure if that would affect your fuel smells.:confused: :confused: |

Dont think it would have been carby setup as there would be no need for a return tube (only one tube required). My guess is the builder intended to use an external pump. It looks like the service hatch is too small to fit a pump through, hence the external theory. You could use rubber stoppers instead of the hose. Or grind the tubes off and weld over the holes {(If you can find anybody crazy enough to weld a peterol tank) dont try this at home kids}. Not sure what Peter means about not having two pipe arrangement (sorry Peter, not picking on you:D ) I thought all EFI engines had two pipes one for tank to EFI and one for EFI to tank. If I remember I will post a pic of my tank tomorrow night. |

Pumps to Carby, not EFI, genuine all wood broomstick handle has since been replaced by aluminum boot stay, pictures and ideas can only get better from here....

As above just use a couple of rubber stoppers with host clamps around them.
In my experience the worst offender for fuel leaks/fuel smell are senders & internal fuel pumps. Always seem to be the cause of fuel smell in the boot. Here is a photo of the old blue Cobra's boot. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/boot.JPG Would have liked to put the amp somewhere else, but we had stuffed full every nook and cranny. Was going to put a nice polished engraved cover over it, but never got around to it. That amp is bolted to back of a sub box. The sub box used up the entire area above the diff. We had blended in splits in the front and hidden head unit. Most people didn't realise the car had a stereo and that's the way we liked it. Fake floor, to hide fuel tank etc. There is also a full tool kit hidden in the side of that boot. I can remember stuffing that boot full to the top on the many trips it did to Nationals etc. |

The two pipe arrangement reference was to the looped pipes that Alvin was questioning. Craig, I'm pretty sure my Cobra was parked next to your's on the left (the blue one:rolleyes: ) in that pic of yours. The photo was taken at Macleans Bridge a few years back. I remember looking in your boot and thinking "everything was in there except for the kitchen sink". I think yours was for sale at that time. Cameron / Alvin............... Mine used to have that fuel smell from the boot until I sealed everything with Aviation sealant - messy stuff, but no further smells. |

That Amp certainly looks that it would have assisted with the 50 / 50 weight distribution (if not the amp then certainly all the gear in th boot):p :p

It's going to the Nationals. So for the first time we will have both of the Cobra's we built at the Nationals. |
