It's all a bit like the recycled water debate. Does it really matter where it came from if it's OK to drink? Similarly, does it matter where your cobra came from if it goes and makes you happy?

Venom427, do you still have technical info and copies of engineers reports and such for all of RC's cars? Would you have any of this on the cobra in the other post?

he is right, about the savings now, as for the resale im not shore, nearly all the tube chassis were all was looked up to being show class unit, but again that was then, these days? i can realy only help with the tech side, as all the cars we built were custom made. we only got reports back in the early days, but lately it's just a sheet of paper with an engineers logo saying that it has passed. as for this chassis it was #1 the first car we built(roller), for starters it will need a tunnle thru the center steel foot wells and a bit of bracing, there shouldent be any bump steer issues as it was taken of a jag front end. enginners report will set you back about 800-1200, you will need a twist and beem test done, as the original test was flaured (TIC). lets say the body was worth $6000, chassis $6000(tube), suspension inc mods to rack, rear upper and lower axles, $1700, doors bonnet boot swung inc hingers$1500, brakes and steering $800, Total $16,000. now this all ads up. BUT do you have the capability’s to take on such a project and try and finnish it by the end of the year (depnding on the engineer, RTA, Vic roads, etc, etc), maybe brian was right, throw a grand in and turn it in to a race track car???. hope this helps. |
It does help very much, Thank you. I noticed that the front suspension mounts (Top and Bottom Arms) were at an angle to the main chassis rails. Was this done to allow room for the coil-overs or help with anti-dive?

the chassis was set up as per jag, so all we did was to coppy the original mounting points but have the unit shorter(track) by 7'', this gave us a better offset for the front and look.
