This will really stir the pot but I'll put it out there anyway.
Are these things really a Ford anyway??? To me, the only thing that made these things a Ford in the first place was the motor. It's not like the Ford design team made a clay model and thought "geez this looks good, lets ramp up the production line". So far I have not used one single Ford part (and I have almost everything I need to complete it). I reckon it's just a light weight, high powered fun machine! I don't care what motor you stick in it :p |
That twin turbo Harrison is now in NSW. Hope it turns up at the Nationals!

Great plates
The engine tuner I use also tuned that cobra, and the dyno sheet if on the wall.
So i must be in NSW. Phil |
Yep, Paul's twin turbo Harrison was sold to a Sydney guy. As far as I know not a club member, so we won't see it at the Nationals. If it was going to go, it would have gone last yeat I expect.
A very nice car, beautiful attention to detail and some serious HP, makes for a fanastic Cobra. The Sydney owner has campaigned it at Wakefield though. I think Bernie's son saw it racing there on a BMW day and the results were on Natsoft web site. Paul saw the light and sold his Cobra to buy a GT40. You will see his yellow GT40 at the Nationals. Going be his performance up here, he will be doing some seriously fast times down there. |
How dose the lexus engine sound.
I've been told it screams when it gets up in the higher rev range. Sound is important! |
Here's a few sound bytes of the different engine sounds.
Lexus 4.0 Quad Cam: Vrooom Vroom Vroom Vroooooommmm LS1 5.7 Aluminium Chev: Brummm Brummmm BrrrrrruuuuuuMMMM!!!! Ford 5.6 Iron Windsor: Braaaaaapppp! Braaaaaaapppp! BraaaaaAAAAAAPPPP! I've tried all of these sounds whilst sitting in the unfinished shell of my Cobra. They all sound pretty good but the windsor does make a bit more spray so having a beer on hand to whet your whistle is handy. :p Cheers |

Little 4lt Lexus with side pipes sounds exactly like a big block under load & high revs down the straight. It is amazing how big they sound. See if spooky responds, as I bet his sounds the same now...big, big, big. In the sound stakes, the Lexus has it won by a mile. Lexus just suffers from whimpy idle, you just can't hear them, it's just so silky smooth. Even Paul's with twin turbo's and side pipes sounded the same, you would swear it was a big block. The Harrison I built with my brother doesn't have much sound at all, actually it's just about silent. Just over muffled, but sometimes silence is bliss when you spend most of the day on the track with it. So little Lexus 4lt with twin turbo's and side pipes...you will have sound of a big block and even more torque than big block. And it would be the cheapest engine choice available. You just got to get over the Toyota badge. :) Times they are a changing. |

You forget, I made a new years resolution to be nice to those misled .... ermm .. dark side fellas. Besides, the beer was sposed to come from Victoria but the RSPCA closed em down. Seems gettin cats to sit on those little beer cans was considered cruel so now they're gonna sell the brewery to some foreigners. :D And, Holden wouldn't use the LS1's :p and now HSV have upgraded to the newer LS2 just to keep pace with the ford alternatives.:( Need I say anymore ? ;) :D :D |
Big Block??
Big Block? No..mines as quiet and unassuming as you can imagine. Sounds like a suzuki swift really...
Bring your ear plugs.. :D hehehehehehehe:JEKYLHYDE |
