Progress Update: Wiring

Since everyone else is posting such great progress pics I thought I'd share some of the stuff I've been up to lately.

I've been working towards firing this thing up and the last thing that needs finishing before turning the key is the wiring loom. I've made it a bit modular and the engine loom is largely seperate from the rest of the loom. It'll have a couple of connectors to seperate it from the main loom. The engine loom itself is pretty much all done with only the main feeds for power and fuel pupmp control needing to be connected to their different relays.

The ECU is mounted in the top of the foot box. I machined up a couple of brackets that clamp it in place. It's well out of the way but still easy to remove if needed. You can see the re routed cabling for the coils in the foot box and their new coil looms. The original loom was all the wrong shape for the new brackets.

The other thing I've done is finally get some plug leads made. They have turned out really good and I'm very happy with the results of the coil relocation. The headers on the motor at the moment are the under body system for rego and they tuck in nice and close to the block.

Hope your all having a good weekend.

Cheers

Looking good Mike

Noticed that you've put a stake in the ground and will be driving at ShelbyFest.
(Me too)

Looking forward to seeing this beauty in the flesh.

Keep up the good work - and the photo posts

I've just got to have this thing on the road soon. At the rate I've been going there'll be no fuel left when I'm finished.

Yep, I'm determined to have my Cobra at Shelbyfest. Even if I have to push the car round the track. Are you going to be ready for Shelbyfest too Gav?

I've been working on the imobilizer wiring. I bought one a while back that uses an electronic key on the dash but after talking to a couple of people they thoiught this was a pain to use (especially if you want to get going in a hurry). I bought another one that uses a remote control so you can have the thing disable before you get in the car. I'm also making the imobilizer part of the loom so it should be harder to trace and hot wire the car.

Cheers

Mike,

I have a pin code system on my WRX, which as you say is a pain when you need to get away quickly.

However, I find it useful in that the time taken to pin the code in gets you to look around (from a safety viewpoint) prior to driving off.

How often have we started a car and driven off thinking we have looked when really we have not.

Looking good.
