what speed does this =
if you were doing 5500rpm in 4th gear with a t5 box and 3.55 rear gears , 15 in rims and tyres 275/50/15 what speed would you be doing?**)
If 4th gear is 1:1, the final drive ratio is 1 x 3.55 = 3.55 engine revs per wheel rotation. At 5500 RPM, the wheels are turning at 5500/3.55 = 1549.3 RPM. Tirerack.com says a BFGoodrich tire in 275/50/15 does 803 revolutions per mile. So, in one minute that wheel will travel 1549.3 / 803 = 1.93 miles. That is a speed of 1.93 miles/minute x 60 minutes/hour = 115.8 MPH, or 186 KPH.

Tommy, I actually followed that! :D
thanks for the info guys , i new someone on here would have the answer
It depends - if you have armfuls of opposite lock on the steering wheel and smoke blazing off the tyres, then your engine revs won't match road speed.... :)
Craig,
Now only a man who drove a Cobra that would wheel spin 'just' before breaking the sound barrier would say that  Cameron |
Tommy
