Sway Bars advice
I have Torana front and rear end. Although the rear has custom lower arms (longer).
I am considering installing whiteline sway bars front and rear. I know some of the people on this forum have front sway bars but do any have rear? Is it worth having? Do they make that much difference? Also does anybody know how the rear sway bars connect up? I know the bar attaches to the axle but what does the top part connect to? Springs? Upper control arms? I am trying to work out whether the whiteline sway bars will fit off the shelf. |
Definitely worth installing a front sway bar on a Torana based DRB. We actually picked up a 2nd hand sway bar for a carton of beer. Did the trick on our old DRB, actually made a huge difference.
I have not seen any Torana DRB's running rear bars. I'll ask the a couple of the guys that have really tweaked the performance out of their Torana DRB's to see if any run rear bars. Torana DRB's really do handle very well out of the box. Even now at the nationals you will still see 5lt Torana DRB's in the top placings overall. What springs/shocks are you using? I expect standard springs. How about shocks? Konie adjustable shocks are also a nice upgrade for the front if you have not done them already. So front sway bar & konie adjustable shocks. |

I am running Kings Springs and Monroe gas shocks as per the DRB assembly manual. What is the advantage of adjustable shocks? In what way are they adjustable? Height? Pressure? |

I upgraded my front brakes and had to mount the calipers to the rear - which by the looks of things will make the brakes foul with a swaybar mounted in the standard location. Looks like I will not be running a sway bar - will be interested to see how it drives (though handling was very good as I pushed it round the garage last night :) ) I have seen photos of other DRB's with a similar setup to mine and they also dont appear to be running a sway bar. I have to say even without the sway bar it is the best handling car I have ever driven.
That said, I have mostly driven enormous cars with huge engines that handle like boats.:LOL: |
i have torana front and rear suspension matted to commador diff rear sway bar is a9x standed and bolts ap to lower swing arms only my diff has been shortend to torana length and had torana springs and standered length swing arms fitted the back end is better then standered
