Battery
After 3 years of not getting much use my battery isn't what it should be.
I am looking at alternatives and was wondering what you guys are using. I am limited for space and would like to get the smallest possible battery available. Your thoughts are appreciated. Brett |
I'm using Odyssey PC925. Not the smallest, but has plenty of cranking capacity, handy for tuning & track work, where you have to perform a few starts in a row. This has replaced an older PC800 that had an abused life, lasted 5 years.
A few guys with Lexus engines have been using smaller Odyssey batteries, no sure what sort of life they are getting out of them. Also using a proper auto-charger, plug it in and forget about it. I reckon this is the secret to long battery life. http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.st...uct/View/M9826 |
I have learnt that Oddesy batterys tend to fail due to the plates breaking away from the terminals. A very expensive battery becomes useless and worthless in minutes. Look after them ! I use an Optima jobby...so far so good. Its been sitting for two years and has held a near full charge so far. I gave it a recharge recently (8 hours) and it didn't really need it !

I have the odessey also which not sure which model but gives around 1000C/A. I also had my first one after about 12mths??? They replaced it without any questions, since then no trouble but for a $350+ battery you would expect some support. Good size and fully sealed dry cell and cranks like a schoolboy:eek:

Mine's a small Odyssey tucked away under the passenger footwell.
First one lasted 3 years but did run down on a few occasions due to a faulty alternator. This one cranks well and to date has never failed. I have charger leads running off it into the glove box, but hardly used it. The battery is about half the size of a standard one. |
Mine is a Braille battery... smallest size, highest output...
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...Image206-1.jpg I got it from a place in SA that are the distributors, I cant remember what they are called though... I'll find their card. http://www.brailleauto.com/index.html - edit, they have added carbon fibre ones now! Cool. Todd |
