With the light weight doors and the remove-ability of the cage I would add a door bar just under the upper sill of the doorskin. I wouldn't be surprised if the tech inspector says the same thing. The two holes in the rear deck look for some electrical box plugs. They just snap in and some are already chrome.

Other wise it looks great keep safe.

Door tube.

Hello FasterPatrick,
I have concidered that as as soon as I put the door skin on, it looked a litte dangerous, I actually bent one in 1/2 inch tube to see how it would work.

Tenrocca, I am saving a spot for you on my door.:D

Hi Phil
the cage is looking good, how do you like your Cobra race seat do you know what model # it is? I am looking for one that will fit in the cockpit with out any mods to the body (not mine).

Philm 04-01-2007 10:12 PM

Seat

HI Craig,
The seat is the Imola 2 from revolution race gear.

Had to modify it slightly to fit.

Hey Phil

Cheers

Nah don't think so.

Brett,
I may be in contention next year or the year after, I need more time behind the wheel.

See you there, not long to go now.

First stage done

I had the cage pre tech inspected today by the Andra officals.

All ok and the paper work is done, I do however need to add another tube along the top of the door, like Fasterpatrick has mentioned.

I will get that fitted tomorrow and now I can get it painted and clean things up.

Applied for my Andra licence and now will prep the car for the full inspection, the car is basically ok, just need to install longer wheel studs in the rear and get some more safety stuff, race suit and arm restraints.

I will try and get the diff out over easter for a ratio change and will reco CV joints as they would now be the weak link.

Looking forward to getting back on the drag strip.

Churchy 04-04-2007 08:05 PM

The diff comes out through the back :p :p

Gav 04-05-2007 04:34 PM

Phil,
Hopefully by the time your car and mine meet, there will be no more room left on your drivers door.

Next thing you will need is to paint the sharks mouth out front like the fighter planes in WWII.

Cameron Parsons 04-05-2007 05:34 PM

Phil,

good to see you are not taking the racing too seriously :JEKYLHYDE

Looks like I'll be seeing a lot of the rear end of your car at Winton %/

PHIL.....Don't fall for it Phil....He's trying to suck you in to a false sense of security.
He did it to me at the Nationals, and FLOGGED me by 7/100ths of a second, when all along he was telling me how I was going to be SOOO much quicker than he was.
He's evil, and must be stopped.

Regards,

Warren "You can trust me" Boylan.

Door tube added.

I have added the door tube as required by ANDRA.

I must admit it gives you a much greater sense of security.

I have been warned about you Queenslanders, slow in the pits but fast on the track.:D

Oh yeah, I trust you Wazza, really I do:rolleyes:

I love to design and tinker and most of how the car has developed is because of this reason alone. If I am going to race I just want to keep safe, I am not too fussed about killing myself but as Karen is also pushing hard in the car I dont think I could live with myself if she was hurt in the car I built.

Thanks

Phil

Phil.

probably the sanest thing I have read on this forum...

Cameron

fasterpatrick 04-05-2007 10:43 PM

Looks perfect plus you get an extra mounting point for the doorskin I feel safer already. One less gear head to worry about. Patrick
