Tie me kangaroo down, sport
This year I'm planning to trailer down to Winton. I was told securing the car with straps from the front and rear towing points would be sufficient. Should I secure at all 4 corners, and if so, what should I attach the straps to? Last Saturday I did a 30km practice tow with only front and rear straps and noticed a little bit of movement**) towards the rear.

Richard,
the tow hooks on mine have been used for towing and they are tough as nails. Make sure you protect the tie down straps from the edges of the tow eyes as over that distance, you will need to be aware of chafe. I also used a secondary 'safety' through the wheel to the front and rear of the trailer. Again, wrap the tie downs so you don't mark the wheels Cameron |
Wow. Thanks for the memories. Growing up in Canada, as a youngin' in the 60's, my mom would play Rolf Harris. That was my favorite song. I just did a Google search and listened to that song for the first time in 40+ years. Thanks.:3DSMILE:

I secure mine front & rear and I strap it through each wheel. Its hard to secure any other way as cobras are so low. Figure if wheels are secured to car then they are good anchor points. Leeroy |

HI Richard,
I had had anchor points built into the trailer, the front wheels are straped over the tires with a strap each. I then have 2 more straps that tie the rear from side to side. We drove to qld and back without a problem. Matt, spookypt, has some nice straps that strap the wheels to the trailer. Phil |
Thanks guys.
I think as well as the tow points, I'll use the remaining two straps on the wheels. I have seen a few too many tow trucks in the last 18 months, though I was impressed with the over the wheel system they used on their trays..mmm..modify trailer... See you all in Winton. 31 sleeps. Richard |
