Like father, like son

After Mum had a mild heart attack from both Dad and I buying 1000cc V-twin motorbikes at the same time, everything went quiet for a while.

As I've mentioned on here before, I bounced down the highway after my near new bike's gearbox failed, locking the rear tyre.

Dad's just had his rumble in the jungle. I'll let him post something about it when he feels like it, but suffice to say that 6 broken ribs and a displaced AC joint later, he's probably thinking the ride out to Kingaroy with the boys could have turned out a little better....

Craig

:( :(

That looks bloody sore - wish him our best for a speedy recovery.

I'm 45 and a knock sets me back for weeks. Your Dad will be in pain for quite some time.

Blair 03-27-2007 02:56 AM

How come your Dad copywrited his xray?

Get better soon!

demicobra 03-27-2007 03:49 AM

Hey Craig,

That was not a good outcome. :(

I was there with Les & your Dad at the February Breakfast
when he was talking about how he wanted to get back on
the bike. %/

Hope he recovers quickly :)

All the best ;)

Regards

Nick

OUCH!
Now I know why my wife wants me off the bike.
Best wishes to your dad for a speedy recovery.

JUMPIN' JEEESSUS,

Craig...Don.....TRAINING WHEELS.....consider them at least !

It's actually not a bad plum colour...it would make a good Cobra Paint Job!

I rode bikes only, for a ten year period.
Had a few nasty tumbles etc. , and decided I'd be better off with 4 wheels.

I even had my twin sons convinced that it was actually against the law for any children of a former motorcycle owner to actually get a motorcycle licence.

They were pissed with me when they found out the truth at school, 'cause they were about 14 before their mates told them they'd been tricked.

Apparently they argued strongly, purely on the faith that Dad wouldn't lie.

Classic!

Don....Get well soon.....I'll let the members know of your antics at the breakfast meeting on Sunday...and Don....I'll be kind!!

Warren.

trularin 03-27-2007 09:31 AM

There's a reason to stick with four wheels.

Hope everyone feels well soon.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It was a strange and awful feeling to get the call from hospital saying that he'd come off his bike. Isn't it the son that is supposed to torment the parents with acts of bravery / silliness gone wrong?!?

Dad's bruise has grown heaps since that photo, but believe me Warren, it's no longer the nice plum colour that you'd want to paint a Cobra.......

Anyway - I think there's method in Dad's madness. Imagine how happy Mum will be if Dad says that he's selling the bike to build a Cobra. Much safer and more practical. What a great way to justify building a new car :)

Wazza 03-28-2007 07:39 PM

I know the feeling...

You should see the bruises I copped when I bought the EXTRA Cobra that I HAD to have for racing.

I'm glad that the silly old bugger is getting better....
Anyone wanna buy a cheap bike ??

Warren.:)

Nuh thanks, those things are inherently unstable.

Rebel1 03-28-2007 07:58 PM

Craig, tell dad to give me a call when the bruising goes down.

I know a lady who'll do a nice wax job on that gut of his.

That'll make his eyes water. :)

OZVENOM 03-29-2007 01:29 AM

oh bugger.

Hi Don i am sorry to see that you have been for a slide i wont ask how the bike is cause i dont realy care as long as you are ok.
Though did you want power steering and an auto in that new cobra??
Your shoulder and other bits will be sore for awhile.

I'm hoping that Dad is right for the drive down to Sanctuary Cove. Maybe before we come down, I should take my 18" wheels off and refit the stocko 16" wheels so the ride quality is a little softer on his ribs...

NASSTY 03-29-2007 07:40 PM

Hi Craig,
I hope your Dad has a speedy recovery :)

Somehow I don't think 16"s will I'm prove your ride too much. Not from what I can remember! :) For a start I was too busy hanging on!

Cheers
