A new maniac

Hi guys' I'm new to the forum and have an Adelaide Classic body with no Chassis!! that's right a maniac. I've built a lotus7 clubman from the ground up, got it registered, crashed it, cut the front off and rebuilt it. so already having a body should be easy!!! yeah right.
Looking to wreck an LS1 Commodore and use adventra front hubs at the rear (drive shafts) and commodore front hubs (HSV brakes maybe)

I'd love to hear from anyone like me who has NOT built a kit and has some plans for a chassis, or anyone in Melbourne who has a kit with no body on it at the moment that doesn't mind a six pack of beer whilst I run over the chassis with a tape and digital camera.

Also a couple of general Q's
What is the ride height of a typical cobra, Ground to top of wheel arch front and rear.
What is the offset on the Trigo / Halibrand wheel
thanks

I am not sure which part of the country you live in but if your in Vic it would pay to get over to Winton for the Shelby Fest.

I am also scratching my head asto why you would go to the expense of trying to make Adventure front end fit into the rear of a car.
Get a wrecked VY and use the IRS from it.

Hey Mad Cobra you might want to look for the the fellow on here called FASTERPATRICK. He lives in the states somewhere however he has a whole thread dedicated to how he built his chassis:

Actually just look through the scratch builders section.

Plenty of different wheel options on here as well (this maniac rany me up wanting to buy my Trigos, LOL) so ask as many questions as you dare.

Thanks for the link,

As for the Commodore IRS, very very heavy. Use the Diff and ABS sensors, fabricated wishbones and Adventra hubs, and save a 50kgs

I would be concerned about the testing requirements the MVR would make you pass before they supplied you full rego.

In the distant future I plan on making tubular rear control arms for my car (way distant), The weight saving would be hge, I am just concerned that the MVR would want tests and welding certificates supplied if presenting the car for the VIN # inspection (first rego).

Find an Engineer and talk before any work. That's the MAJOR priority !!!
