Seals n dash lights
 

G'day All

Been busy with the sparky Saturday again and were that much closer but he's keeping me busy scouting for parts.

He suggested the use of a warning light to indicate whether the thermo fan had switched on and an over ride switch to make it do so if needed. I'll go with both suggestions and thought that using a green dash light with a diagram of a fan was most apt.

I am chasing a source for this dash light as indicated, does anyone know who could provide this? I've have sent an email to my original source Simon Clemens in WA but am yet to hear back, so thought I'd try the forum. Can anyone help?

I mights as well also ask about sourcing rotary (rotating) switches over the normal toggle type. I need one 2 position (on/off) and one 3 position (off/low/high) rotary switch for the thermo overide and heater/demister fans respectively. Can anyone suggest a source for these switches as well?

Finally am looking at the door/bonnet and boot seals that I need for the car. I know at least two sources from where I can buy the seals but can anyone indicate what the profile is that I should be buying?

Is it a case that the seals vary between kits because of the size of the lip each manufacturer uses on the various bodies? Presumably however the general profiles are similar.

Hoping someone can "please explain".

Hi Steve,

The door seal for that I used was pinchwed from my local Clark Rubber store. The same seal type will do both the bonnet and the and doors you will need about 6 metres @ 13.95 per Metre. The G Force is very similar to my RMC, so the I expect the same section will fit both. The description of the pinchweld on my receipt is "pinchweld door, escort/gemini/cortina", I have not put a seal around the boot.

send me a PM and I can give you some rotary switches. I used one for my fan
off/low/high. They are 1/4' shaft with 25mm body and I can supply knobs also. They are a 10 pole rotary switch and you select pole qty required with a rear position clip.

I can supply FOC as we used to use them years ago and no longer do.

I bought the larger of the two pinchwed seals with the moulded rubber O seal attached, but found this is too large for the bonnet and boot to shut properly. Did you use pinchwed with any rubber seal attached, and if so which one?

I'd like to have some form of rubber attached to the pinch component of the seal so that any rubbing will be less severe on the paintwork when done.

Have you any pics in your gallery of the seals you used?

2nd paragraph should read like this,

For off/low/high. remove nut & locator ring & turn fully anti-clockwise now put locator in second slot and locknut in place. PinsA is common and Pin2 is low switched on when turned 1 spot clockwise, and Pin3 is high switched on when turned 2 spots clockwise.
