Speedo Cable

Hi all,

I need to connect my Autometer speedo to a T5. What is the best way to approach this ? Is there a standard Ford cable that will work or do I need a custom made cable ?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan

I am running a T5 and have the VDO electronic speedo that is to be mated to the gearbox pulse sender not any mechanical connection.

I don't know that there is capability for a mechanical link on these boxes!? I might be wrong.

I think the cheapest and easiest way would be to buy an Autometer electronic speedo.

I'm running this one off the factory speedo output from my ECU.

I've got a T5 from a Mustang which still has the mechanical setup. I borrowed a cable I was told was from a Falcon but the thread on the speedo end was much to large. I need to find something with a 5/8 thread on the speedo end.

On this site it suggests I can use a standard cable and just need to find a T5 gear. Will keep hunting.

I didn't realise you had an early box. Ring up one of the Speedometer service places. I rang these guys years back about making a custom cable for a motorcycle. I believe they can do that kind of stuff.

There's prbably an equivalent shop in NZ somewhere.

Cheers
