Fender Stripes

With a blue cobra with white stripes I am thinking of putting on Fender stripes and have noticed that there are available white, yellow and red from Finishline.

Does anyone know what the correct colur fender stripes to put on or is it an owners choice thing?

Serpnt,

I'm sure there was a thread on this exact topic a few months ago.

If my memory serves me right then there was no defined colour. The stripes were put on so that the pit crew could recognise a specific driver back in the sixties.

I think others said that it was to identify a rookie driver, but the first suggestion seemed more sensible.

Weclome,
I will go w/ PCC - "pit stripes" were used to identify the car/driver.

Don't ever remember "rookie" stripes, but it could just be old age.

"Rookie" stripes are always on the rear panel of the car...

You want to know that the guy is a novice BEFORE you pass him...not when you are right next to him at speed... :p

I've got a book called Racing Cobras...on the cover the side stripe is orange...inside there's a cobra with yellow stripes. Paint em what you like because the books say that they were painted on the day to identify each vehicle because there were several teams with the same coloured cars and for some reason or other the car numbers weren't recognised as quickly by the pit crew or timers in race conditions.

Rob,

And guess they were painted on with a broom or 4" brush..:3DSMILE:
