Reversing Lights

Thought of another one! Reversing lights that will pass muster with the inspection and registration authorities. On the Harrison car, I have seen Ford Falcon EF reversing light mouldings inserted in the lower rear of the body, but are there any alternatives that still fit flush to the body and where does one get them??

reversing lights

I only have one reverse light (must have been all that was required) on my car.
It's like a clear trailer lamp that can be seen on the right end of the bumper.
Doesn't stand out that bad.

And by the way welcome to the forum.
Cheers,
Bryan

Thanks Bryan. My first reply! Something existential about that.. "I have a Cobra therefore I am"?

Cheers,

Merv

Welcome to the forum guys.

Brian,

That's a bloody good view.

Something about the back end of a Cobra!

Pete,

When he is wound up and going hard that's all you get to see....%/

I have followed Bryan down the Geelong Highway a few times and it is a nice Cobra to sit behind - both to look at and listen tooooo..**)

Merv/Sharon, welcome to the madhouse.

Light needs to have an appropriate E stamp (compliance requirement) as do all you lights and lenses and will have height or dimension restrictions as to where it can be placed at the rear.

You can have one or two lights in Vic.

Some fit lights amongst bumper hardware as shown on Bryan's car, other fit a more traditional looking sports car lamp. That is a lamp with an adjustable arm attached. Beware of many Lucas versions as many are not E stamped ie too old. E compliance stamping started in the 70's I believe.

Old Honda civics have such an equivalent that is compliant.

I am using a Narva light that was from Repco, it is quite slim and is e marked.

I got the idea from Aussie Mike, so maybe there are pics in his gallery.

I have used narva LED number plate lamp inserts and flush mounted them.
They are E marked and are similar looking but smaller than the XF lights.

Guys, what are you using to seal these against the body - silicone?

07cob 07-05-2007 09:51 PM

XF Butchered

As a few others have in the past, I have used part of the lense from the XF tail light.

No 'E' markings at all so I might have some problems at reg. If so, I will provide an additional light of some description.

These will be attached with some silicone of some sort.

Hey Geof, those roll bars... are the rear stays mounted to the chassis? If so, do you have any pics of how you managed that with the Harrison? Thanks.

Roll Bars

Paul

No, the bars are just 'for show' and terminate at the body. I have thought a few times that I should have gone for a two piece rear stay, fixed to the chassis at the back of the inside of the boot. However, I have done what I have done. It looks good (I think) and if I want to add some more rollover protection, I will worry about that later.

Certainly does look good mate. Just thinking with all the regulations tightening up lately (apparently, it's hard to find any solid info) that I might design it in from the start. Just another "minor" detail. :)

Thanks for all the great ideas. Also found some nice stuff in the Hella catelogue - they show which are ARD compliant and provide approval numbers.
