Aust $ versus US $
With the Aust $ approaching 90 cents US it becomes increasingly difficult to resist the temptation to look at some 'nice bits' that fit these cars, particularly after they are registered. Eg Crate motors/ G/boxes & wheels etc etc.
As I sit here to renew my Vic membership whilst reading we have approx 110 members, assuming demand, would it be feasible for the club to organise a 20 ft container to bring an assortment of goods in for members who wish to grab some stuff while the dollar is up ?. I'm sure with past experience derived from members & contacts, many of the importing pitfalls could be avoided ?. It may also give people ( like myself) a sense of calm as people would have a different approach to dealing with a 'body' rather than the individual ?. Your thoughts............. Cheers Chris L "I really should just finish what I started ! " |
your post is about 3 weeks late for me :( It is however a good idea - I think there is an underground of sorts already operating through a member of the Vic Club. LB |
What I learned
Done my shopping,
Saved a bundle (enough to paint my car for free)..... Remember....... Buy American made.......get someone to mark the boxes "Made in the USA" The free trade agreement = $0-00 import duty. Under $1,000-00 = no GST in OZ. If its not American made - get the packers to stamp/write "RACE CAR PARTS ONLY" on the boxes. Racing car parts only attract 5% import duty, whereas ordinary car parts are 10%. (plus GST). Check your prices CAREFULLY.... It's a bit of mucking around but I have found that I could get some things freighted to Darwin from the USA, quicker than I could get them from interstate, and saved money. I just don't understand............ Hogster |
Get all the small items overseas.
I saved a lot by buying from 'Finishline' who are on this forum. Some engine parts are half price also - Edelbrock, Summit etc. etc. Currently looking at the TWM site...%/ |
