Chebby and Box

Hey All,

I know someone will be able to assist:3DSMILE:

I require a 6 Litre Chebby and a 6 speed Manual tranny to start the Daytona.

If I cannot get the 6 Litre I would settle for a 5.7 Litre as the location points for Exhaust, engine mounts and so on are the same (So I have been told).
I dont need a working one just one that is complete.

I am still looking for a donor 6 Litre and 6 Speed if you know anyone who has a wreck........:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

Stiffy... I doubt you're the only one looking to get these "Euro 3" engines from a wreck, but good luck all the same.

If you have a spare 10k speak to Chris Tate at World Automotive Surplus Parts (W.A.S.P.) on 0418135211. He does a terrific package deal on the L76 - most things required to start her up, including reflashing of the computer to knock out the security and airbag sensors, alternator, looms, belts, pulleys, etc. These are straight from the production line in Adelaide and come with Holden engine numbers which keep the Vicroads people happy. For a while he was doing the T-56 gearbox for about 3000 plus GST.

Cheers,
Paul

Stiffy,

Yeah my quote for everything from fan to rear of gearbox was just under 15k. Forget the factory clutch though, get a Textralia.

stiffy 07-24-2007 02:59 AM

Rebel1,

Complete from head to toe, minus the fuel pump...

L76 with 6 speed.

Absolutely correct and the Textralia comes with a special flywheel so you wont need the standard one. Same with the internal slave cylinder.

Other bits that have been included in some packages are:

The battery power harness...not required for our cars.
The ECU mount base....not required
Don't buy the holden right hand engine mount bracket unless you are sure the chassis is set up for it. Get the Corvette one from Eagle in Sydney.
Don't get the factory belt unless you are using the holden power steering.

If I think of any more I'll post em later. :)

Great info Les. Keep it coming!

The standard clutch will be ok in a Cobra/Daytona due to it's weight, or lack of it.

If you plan on doing some track work though, an upgrade before the engine/box goes in is a good idea.......

Best I can advise stiffy is to have a good look at the LS1 forums and search for clutch. Heaps of reading
