Hi all,
Just saying G,day. We bought a chassis and body privately and are unsure of its history or manufacturer. Spur of the moment stupidity, I guess. You have some good advise and exellent cars so I look forward to getting involved. Dickson, Bacchus Marsh |
Welcome along,
Do you know the manufacturer of your car? And I am sure I am not alone when I ask if there is any chance of pics. |
Is it a fully fabricated chassis or a chopped down production car chassis? If it's a production car chassis, then it will be a Toyota Crown based kit.
If it's a fabricated chassis, then have a look for a chassis number/identifier stamped into chassis in the engine bay. Yep, if you can post some pics then we should be able to work out who manufactured it. That's if it's from one of the manufacturers. If it's a home built, then it gets a lot harder. Front & Rear Photos, cockpit and engine bay should be enough to identify it. |
Thanks guys. Tubular steel fully fabricated chassis with jag running gear, still in pieces and no engine/gearbox, so a lot to do. Will put up some pictures soon. No numbers.

Yeah that was my first thought.

Python don't use Jag front suspension only the diff.
I live in Sydenham which isn't that far from Bachus. I could pop over and probably identify it for you. Cheers |
My guess is it is possibly one of Dave Tuckers Cobras if it is tubular. RC cars or similiar.
Dave made quite a good product in two or three options - standard section frame chassis or the tubular option. Lindsay McDonald at McDonald Racing has one of the last Cobras from David. If it is one of the RC Cobras that you have, you may want to contact him on 0394650000. Adittionally, Trev at Shepparton has one. The Python cars - older versions - used MGB front end bits. Welcome to the forum and enjoy the build |
I agree with Bernie, If it is a round tubular designed chassie with Jag front it will be a RC from 1988-1990.
You should have a talk with Trevor who has one on the road and Graham T who bought one in the early 90's and on-sold it because he was having trouble getting it engineered. I too have a RC Sports but mine is a ladder type chassie. Good luck with the build. |
