ABS and TC Question
Hello
Just wondering does anybodies cobra have ABS and Traction Control? How hard would it be to install these and do Jag front and rears come with these. Scott |
Yes, a few Cobras around with ABS and/or Traction Control.
You will need wheel speed sensors front and rear. Then either use a factory ECU & required accessories to get it all working. Or go aftermarket ECU etc. Our kits use either Series 1/2/3 Jag front/rear suspension. So no wheel speed sensors. Some kits use parts that make it easy to fit wheel speed sensors, well only one that I know of. Harrison Kit uses Skyline Rear and it can be found with factory wheel speed sensors and also it's front hubs/uprights are Commodore, so you can just get ABS versions and bolt it on. Then the rest of the stuff. We built our last Cobra with TC in mind. Harrison with Skyline GTR rear and we used Skyline GTR front hubs/uprights. Used Autronic SM2 ECU. Wheel speed sensors come in handy as you can also use them for speedo. |

Thanks for the quick reply. Surely any jag from the last 15 years must have abs and tc. If we got the front and rear from these do they fit in most kits? Scott |

Why are you so hung up on Jag stuff, there is actually as good or better running gear around for Cobras. The sensors are probably the easiest part, they are just a toothed gear and hall effect unit. With ABS, getting it calibrated front to back on a Cobra would be the challenge. |
anything can be done with the right amount of money
atfermaket trac like an autronic is good if there is aftermarket abs i dont know if i could trust it as good as a tested factory unit best thing to do would be buy a complete damaged late model holden then run the ls1 with all std ecu and trc and abs stuff big job would u have room in engine bay to do servicing like plugs etc |

Yeah, the chassis is made with the mounting etc for what rear-ends they offer.
Plus the chassis should also be designed with the geometry of whatever suspension they have designed it for. So there is a lot of research required if changing from factory running gear. So I wouldn't be rushing to change the running gear. Have you asked G-Force about ABS & TC, they might have some experience with it on their kits. Or point you to G-Force owners that have/are doing it. |

At the moment I am just looking around I havent bought anything, just wanted to explore options. Scott |
The CR uses the AU falcon rear end assy.
My donor was from an XR8 and it had the abs sensor and the wiring harness supplied with the rear end. I am sure that you could machine the inside of the jag rotor and fit a reluctor ring from the AU ford and then go with complete AU abs setup? |
Some of the later XJS have ABS,essentially the same as series 2.

Isnt traction control called your right foot ???

Your right foot needs calibrating then I reckon!:D  :D
Sorry mate, I couldn't resist...:p |
Good call it doesnt need calibrating , just the nutter attached to it need to be.
