Once its in OZ its just like a regular parcel, so you'll get a slip in your letter box letting you know its at the post office. you should have to sign for it though and show ID.

cheers

Thanks guys. I have to say though, $99 USD for shipping was a bit steep! I shipped mirrors and mounts, fuel filler, side louvres, lights, badges and other bits from Finish Line and he only charged $80. Thankfully the dollar is strong - just like the Force (dark side) these days. :)

if its over 300 you may have to pay duty aswell. Say its for a race car and you will get away with 5%. Make sure they put gift on the parcel.

Aussie Mike 10-11-2007 08:42 AM

Anything under a Grand Aussie goes through duty and GST free now when shipping via post. Parts arriving from the US next week :3DSMILE:

Cheers

Yeah they raised it from $300 some time ago. Mike, in your experience is there likely to be any delay at customs?

macloft 10-11-2007 06:22 PM

Hi Sambo I have been away so I am late posting reply to your question.
Did ez2wire contact you. I had no problems with his communication.
You can get different Post rates out of US depending on your speed of delivery requirements.

G'day Bruce. I've emailed him once through eBay and twice by replying to his email from last week - no response. I'll give it a few more days though.

I will be using the post from now on!!! Everything I have had shipped in over 300 customs has pinned and made me pay duty!!

Thats wrong - shouldnt matter if its regular mail or a parcel service like UPS. Im not 100% sure of the date it changed to a $1000 limit, but it was prior to this year - maybe start of 2006?

Cheers

PS. Sambo - stop panicing! It will show up :)

alffie 10-12-2007 12:55 AM

I air freighted some T56 connectors in 2 week ago and they added up to 300us and customs in sydney held them for 3 days and charged my GST and Duty.

Have a look at the customs web site

if you think there was some disparity between their stated practice and what you experienced it might be worth a letter to them

Yeah, not long ago it used to be $1000 limit for goods via post. $300 limit for all other methods.

Remember the limit includes delivery cost and is AU dollars.

Just be warying of who you use to transport your goods. Companies like Bax Global will charge you extra fees at this end even if it is less than $1000(inc delivery). They can charge valuation fee, cargo terminal fee, out of metro fee, fuel surcharge etc. If over $1000 then you also get customs clearance fee(this is on top of any actual duty or GST amounts). I had an order come in recently that was under $1000 and it cost an extra $100 in fees this end. They originally quoted $165 but I picked it up from the depot to save the rest.
