Looks great. I think that the Chevy LS engines are perfect for the Cobra. Light, durable, efficent, powerful, and reasonably priced! In fact my new scratch built Cobra uses all new Vette suspension, diff (wiht a driveshaft conversion), an LS6 with a T56 tranny. I built a steel and aluminum space frame, the body shell slide over it. It goes to paint this monday. Have a blast with your new toy! John

From the look of the colour a titanium stripe would look good.

Started the doors, boot and bonnet. Have filled up my picture space and dont no how to edit some pics so cant post more yet.
|
I did not know there was a limit regarding how many pics you can upload?
You can also use www.photobucket.com create your own account and add pics in there, then you can add them into threads or you can supply the link to your gallery. |
As David said, Photobucket is very easy to use, and even automatically gives you the code to embed in your posts as well.
Allfie, looking excellent mate. how straight did you find your body? Mine is a shocker I reckon - even looking at David and Gavs in primer at the Nats, I reckon I got a dud - I estimate I have 100 hours (although very inexperenced hours) in the body already. Worse spots i front of the doors, and the bonnet and the sills are as crooked as the preverbial. Theres probably more filler then gelcoat visible now. |
The seams on mine were real bad. I got the same ripples in front of the doors to. My boot has a real bad "flat" spot above the numberplate holder which has taken a fair bit of bog. 100 hours isnt to bad for a top quailty job, just have to keep hifilling and blocking till your happy with it. I didnt find a couple of marks till I got to the base, so it depends on how picky you are to how long it will take, now you know why it costs so much for a good paint job.

Alffie, if you want to see "a fair bit of bog" you should look through my gallery. I thought that was a $hitload of bog.
Regards. |
Iam doing the doors, boot and bonnet. Jeez they are bad! the bonnet hasnt got much bog but the doors are terrible I dont know what ian does but he needs to look at the door moulds.
I have decided not to have a stripe. |

Great job Alffie colour looks awesome. Now that the spray is finished and youve removed all the plastic and tape, did you end up with any overspray anywhere? Did you ever consider removing the body to do the spray or wasnt that an option?
Regards. |
Hi Mando
I did look at spraying the body off but getting it on and off wasnt easy and VERY easy to get scratched up. The overspray wasnt an issue. |
