Lights Switches
I have decided to go with the helicopter look and use toggle switches for my lights.
Question: I have one switch for the dash lights (yes?). Do I use a dual switch for the park and low/high beam lights or do I use a seperate one for park and one for low/high beam?, meaning I can leave park on along with the low/high beam lights. Yeh silly question but one I am unsure about. Thanks Bruce |

Gday Bruce - Not sure if this helps, but this is what I did.
Double toggle switch for lights, park and then lights on. and I kept the high\low beam switching on the stalk (the indicator stalk). Also did away with the wiper stalk (toggle switch for that also) and flipped the indicator\high\low beam stalk to the left hand side, which was easy to do with the barina column. Cheers |
I used a painless 80152 push pull/rotary switch.

Lucas three-way toggles can cover the lights (off/parking/head lights) and wipers. For the instrument (panel) lights some interpretations of the ADRs suggest that they must have a dimming (as well as on/off) function. The Moss Guide gives the MGA 1960: push pull and turn switch of that period for about a $100.00. That is if you want to have the period look. High/beam can be directed to the indicator stalk-needing only one then. |

The headlight switch (push pull) I had was broken. I am using the stalk for the dimmer. Good point about dash lights needing to be adjustable. I will check this with engineer. I will use stalk for the wipers. |
just remeber when u use a dual switching switch u need to run a hduty diode
or a special switch or a relay to have yr parkers turn on when yr lights are on aswell normal headlight switches turn on parkers on 1st click and parkers and lights on 2nd click so if u use normal switch u will get feedback on 1st click and turn lights on aswell if u dont use a relay or a diode or a proper light switch |
A word of warning, check the ADR's to see if toggle switches are still permitted. I think that you can now only fit rocker switches as toggles are considered dangerous protrusions when placed on the dash.

Bruce, personally I like to turn on the dash lights with the running lights. Head lamps and high beams are two different switches.
Just my opinion. Make sure it will pass inspection. :D :D :D |
Ross Smith is right. 4 years ago I was told ..no toggles so I opted for everything to work off the two column stalks. passed rego ! Then one stalk fell off and toggles sprouted.

My engineer says toggles OK so long as they are not infront of the occupants and are not sharp. The park lights must be on with the headlights however they can be on seperate switches. My engineer seems to have some common sense.

I am told that two Harrisons just went thru engineering and QT with the old-type Lucas toggles.
