Wire terminals
Hi again everyone,
I am killing some time waiting for a plane and thought I am going to need to locate some wire terminals. I havent been to the local Holden deler yet but does anyone know a source for the VN/VS fuel pump connector, the one that is on the outside of the tank. Also I will need a connector for the VT/VX/VU MRA connector, the connectore on the outside of the tank again. Thanks for any help. |
Just cut them off and fit generic ones from Tandy or Dick Smith.
Heaps cheaper and will do the same job. Solder the pins to the wires though, crimping them is a pain and unreliable. Gav |
vn vs has a round plug with a purple and a black wire on them
just goto local wreckers they should have ****loads of vns and cut the plug off tandy and dick smith have ****ty terminals what connector do u need for vt mra?????????????? i have ****loads of 2nd hand plugs in my big box of crap crimping and soldering both have good and bd things depending on how thick the wire is so beware when doin either |
What is the diff' between joining to the wires connected to a second hand plug that was most certainly not top of the range when new and terminating a cheap plug correctly?
Answer? The latter is most certainly neater to say the least. |
well 90% of time i see others solders is definately not neater
why not get the correct plug when they are easily available so for down the track its just easier to change pump and stuff with factory plugs whenever i can i try keep things std because if i do the wiring and down the track somneone else has to work on it it is much easier another reason is most factory holden ford tyota etc plugs are waterproof plugs from tandy and smithys are not anyway i have afew plugs that match a vn to vs fuel section so they are not hard to get anyway go ask an auto electrician he will have muc better stuff than tandy unless u want a digital camera or a printer to go with it cause thats all they sell these days |
Thanks guys, but there may be some confusion regarding the VN/VS connector.
I am refering to the connector that is mounted to and passes through the round metal plate that bolts to the tank. I am sure I should be able to source one from the wreckers. Not so sure about the VT one though. Again it is the square connector that passes through the MRA. |
I thought I'd revive this thread rather than starting a new one. I have a VZ Crewman 6.0L fuel pump and I'm having heaps of trouble finding the electrical connector. I don't want to buy a whole body loom from Holden ($250) and wreckers are reluctant to separate the plug from the loom... fair enough too. Does anyone know where I might get hold of a suitable plug? Otherwise it'll be insulated spade terminals and sikaflex!

Hi Boxhead, I used the original connections that came on the sender. I thought it would be easy to find the mate to my connections but after visiting 3 wreckers, no one had the same as mine. They all had dozens with either 2 or 3 cables, but finally I found one to match mine.

Yeah they were my first port of call Boxhead. Justin had never seen anything like it!
