On Saturday I made a start on the heart/lung transplant.

Its all fairly standard stuff so have just added some descriptions below the pictures.

There seemed to be a paucity of car stands so the gantry did duty lifting the Cobra to working height until Matt came with the stands and the new toy.

The new toy is the engine crane - one of the several pieces of equipment that I have a 1/2 share in that will never come to my place. In this shot we're discussing how to explain to enquiring spouses why an engine crane is necessary when there is a big-a$$ gantry exactly above the engine bay of the car :confused: - (silly women)

The engine is free of the car - seems to have dragged the transmission out with it. Having convinced me that there is no way I could consider just freshening up the engine and running it for couple of years my brother has now discovered a use for it (!) By the look of him Matt is also considering some options.

Now somewhat lighter in the front end the car is pushed outside for a degrease before being put away for next weeks activities.

Any guesses where the coolant may be leaking?

Looks like there is enough room there for a LS series motor, imagine how much beter your car will handle with so much less weight over the front?

Don't listen to those "Dark Side" whispers! A nice little Windsor with Cleveland heads would do the trick. Must say I like those Japanese safety boots that you all wear in the workshop.

I've built 2 x Cobras with my brother in the past and both of us built the cars in our bare feet. :eek:

I have to confess that I'm one of those oddballs who put 'Jedi' down under Religion in the last couple of census. (plural form?)

Consequently I am duty bound to stay away from the dark side.

However, cognisant of the weight differential, I'm going with one of the shorter deck height blocks and Don has helped me out by removing excess material from within the block (mostly from within, or the bottom of, the cylinders) Applied alchemy will result in the conversion of iron to aluminium for some components to further help in this regard.

Hopefully this will result in more of a swap than a conversion.

I guess you LS lads can show me the way around the track at the next ShelbyFest ;)

Those darksiders are always comparing apples with oranges. Turn your 289 into a 347 with a nice cam and heads and you'll eat those LS thingies for brekky!!!

I've got a 289 long motor, 030 over, mild crane cam, forged pistons, high volume oil pump, Ported 302 heads, blah blah. Its just sitting there now that I have gone with the 5.0 litre/347 stroker.

Thankyou for the offer Hogster, however I have just received a ransom note and instructions collect the replacement this Saturday morning.

Hopefully I'll have some more shots of the Innie some time next week (if I can come up with the $$).%/

Answer:

Even though the word census is of Latin origin, and in ancient times the plural would probably have been censi, in common usage today the plural is censuses.

Back to work....must stop reading Forum.....must not spend "work" time looking up the plural form of census, when , If you had've written CENSUZZEZ most of our guys would've copped it sweet !!

Your shed is disgusting. It is clean, tidy and has midget workers there as well.
As far as japanese work boots go. I ventured into my shed yesterday without boots and within ten minutes damaged my already broken little toe again.
