A few progress pics

Just competed the Aussie Mike style shifter mod - very happy with how it turned out - feels great through the gears - reverse lockout works a treat. Ill find out soon enough (or more likely eventually) if the shifter explodes at the end of the straight at Wakefield!

Turned up a knob in the same style as my blinker stalk - AC logo of course (I just dont like the cobra logo that much :o ) Sitting a little high as I havent thread inside yet - need a 16mm 1.6 (I think) tap.

heres my engine - hopefully next weekend I might bolt em together and mock up on the chassis - Im still saving my pennies for a clutch - hopefully Santa will bring me a Tex

On the body side I have been preping underneath - here she is mounted on a craddle I made to make it a bit easier to work on and move around. Should have that done and ready to paint in a week or 2 (or 3 or 4 etc), weather permitting!

Does the Aussie Mike warranty cover motorsport use? :D

Looks good.

I'm happy to join you with the use of AC logo's. I don't have any Cobra logo's on my Cobra at all, all AC logo's(half a dozen or so). Do you know if you going to fit the AC bonnet & boot badges?

Nope - no badges on the outside. :)

Gav 11-03-2007 09:08 PM

Looks great, I too agree with the badges, you can have too much of a good thing.
Don't feel you're alone if your handy work explodes, my diff is just a fading memory my therapist tells me.

Looking good mate.

Aussie Mike...Mmmm the approved supplier of motorsport champions

Tenrocca 11-04-2007 01:03 AM

Just to clarify - the only reason it could explode is I did it myself using Mikes instructions. Mikes instructions are great - my welding skills may not be :p :o :)

Yes it is. I wouldnt attempt it on anyone elses myself, but Aussie Mike might be able to do it for you. I know Mal wood does them - and Im sure there are others as well. I think the shifter worked out around $250 delivered from the US, tube of liquid gasket, $10 - 4 litres Tranny fluid - $30...Not slipping with the grinder and tearing a massive hole in your new gearbox...Priceless. :D

stiffy 11-06-2007 03:55 PM

Cheers,,,,,

Another big day

A big day on the build with the motor and gearbox going in (after a setback of a couple of hours due to my number one with a bullet stupid thing I did during my build that I will would feel "uncomfortable" revealing in this public forum. :) ) Actually 1 and 2 today:

Lowering in 6 litres of chev power - Its just a great fit - in fact, someone very much on the blue side revealed to me the other day that it really is the perfect engine for the modern day cobra:

Here we have a pic of me sitting in with roll bar mounted for the benefit of certain B-club members who take great delight in claiming my roll bar is too high. Seat in, no rails, no body.....would you REALLY want it any lower boys????? :D:D

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ginein0003.JPG

If you look closely, you can also see the evidence of number 2 stupid thing - walked into the half closed garage door. S%$t that hurt!

Rebel1 11-10-2007 04:09 AM

Looks great Tenrocca.

You CR guys are very lucky with your wide chassis rails and that the engine sits between them. Is there any incline to the engine?.

I totally agree....the LS2/L76/L98 family is perfect for the cobra.

The pics are great...cept the last one with the dude sitting in it. ;)

Philm 11-10-2007 04:25 AM

Forehead brake light.

Andrew,
I think your roll bar is to short now.:D

Geat work, I am looking forward to seeing your finished car I love the style you are building.

Hey Les - I think the engine sites pretty level, the rear will come up a litle as I havent yet made the gearbox mount.

Phil - Ill just get a haircut and I reckon the roll bar will be just right :p

Cheers

boss290cobra 11-13-2007 02:25 AM

rocca how will you go with the nationals rules that the bar has to sit 2 inches above you helmet,if you intend to compete it

Mine is still taller then most I saw! :) - Its S/S anyway so strickly speaking I dont this it would pass regardless of height. I think they were pretty relaxed on the rules this year.

If I start going under 1:20, Ill will make a new one in steel, using the same mounting postions, but with a higher loop and a cross piece for the 3rd leg.
