Fitting of ratchet-type boot lid stay
I seem to have pics of everything except this. Anyone have pics of the fitting process used for the attachment of the ends of the boot stay?

Merv, I've added more information about mounting the stay to our web site.
http://www.snakebite.com.au/bootstay-p-97.html Unfortunately the Harrison Cobra is one of the hardest to mount the boot stay to. If you look at the 2nd last photo(bright blue Cobra), this is a Harrison. Sorry about the image quality. |

Merv, have you thought about boxing in your boot. As in, box in the sides behind the wheel wells. If you do that, then could mount the stay to the side of the boxing and it's a simple and neat install like in the photos of my RMC(main photos on the web site).
You can make the sides removeable so you can store stuff. The sides also hide all the brake/indicator wiring. You can also hide your squirter bottle in there and other stuff. Just an idea. I really like the look of the boxed in boots. I'll grab the measurements of where my RMC boot stay is mounted. Harrison is similiar proportions in this area(boot opening, boot lid design), so would give you an idea of where it would go. |

I used a boot stay from Snakebite. Where you mount it really depends on how far your boot lid will open without hitting on the body. My car is an RMC and may be different to yours. Thanks Ross and Craig. I guess when I fit the fuel tank then I will have a boot floor. I was thinking of making a bracket to attach to the side. Boxing in to some extent may assist but reduce space? Will try some cardboard to test tomorrow!

Added some more detail to our product page.
Also have diagrams and measurements to help guide your placement. The amount your Harrison boot opens will be very similiar to RMC, G-Force etc. Where you place it is up to you. Mounting on the floor area is easier in some cases, but it also interferes more with items you place in your boot. |
I found on the Harrison that for the top boot mount if you drill a hole in the boot rib you can get the 2 nuts in for the counter sunk screws then put in a rubber bung as per the photo. For the lower mount i had to make a steel plate welded to the mount bracket that spreads the load undernearh the fibreglass (I used silafex to bond it to the body plus 2 screws to fasten to the boot channel) as the boot lip does not have enough strength and flexes.

Thanks Bruce - which photo/s? Keen to see that/them. I have made up a bracket for the bottom mount that can be attached to the rear of the metal frame on the RHS. I think I know what you mean by the fitting at the top.
