Racer X Design KC-427 Concept

Racer X Design KC-427 Concept

What do you guys think? It's only ink on paper so far but I agree with (the?) Peter Brock's comments at the bottom of the page.

Full size pics here.

Taken from their website...

KC-427

A modern interpretation of the legendary Cobra 427, as seen by the Maltese designers at Racer X Design. This is the first time that
Racer X Design is showing the sketches of the KC-427 to the public.

Designed to evoke the emotions of the classic cobra, the KC-427 concept captures the beautiful design of the original while adding a
more brutal new age twist. The design is dramatic, modern yet with the same lines that made the original an icon, the KC does not try to
hide the fact that its insight comes from the 60’s. It looks ready to chew the tarmac even in design phase.

The small dimensions together with a space frame chassis consent to build a car that weighs less than a ton, even with a 7.0L V8 motor
as found on the new Corvette Z06. The result would be a car that has a power to weight ratio of around 550 bhp/ton.

The Concept car will be completed within a year, expect it to be a hit. A relatively small Company that builds one off cars for the single
enthusiast, the Racer X design team is already known for both the GTV Evoluzione and the RCX, both of which won several awards both
in design and construction.

This is also the first time that instead of building a one off, twenty KC-427’s are intended to be sold internationally. “We will start
collecting information on who might be interested in this car. The first twenty people who show interest will be offered the opportunity to
purchase the KC once the cars are ready and be updated regularly with the progress” said Reuben Zammit – Director and Head of
design of Racer X.

...pfffft...

recon they'll just make themselved a modified shell for a kit and whack a ls7 in it.

I cant find many mentions of this crew except for the Alpha they did and the press release refers to the XLR-8 motor show in 'Europe'

only thing remotely similar I could find was at the Isle of Man

probably not looking hard enough

some of the competition they would have faced at the 'Classics' event at the IOM

I love the 3.0 CSL.
When I was doing my apprenticeship in Melbourne, a customer had 2 of these, they are a beautiful car, all alloy body etc.

I'm always hoping someone can redesign a modern day version but they just never seem to capture that "feel" that the original body design brings out in ya. this one is cool but just no spark there for me.

CHANMADD 11-21-2007 11:24 PM

I think it is really nice.I would have one in a heartbeat!!

Duh. I can't find Peter's comments. Could someone help me out with that?
Thanks.

I think they've edited that link since I first saw it. He basically said he'd been waiting for a modern incarnation to do justice to the original design and he felt this one was the best so far. But that quote is no longer on the page - and Google can't find it either - sorry!

It's very nice and would really appeal to those that don't appreciate or understand the history and heritage of the truly brutal creation that was realised back in the sixties.
Four speed, four hundred horsepower ( at least) and no creature comforts but an ashtray.... COBRA
not a lexus or subaru.

Replicas of the Ford Cobra Concept(project Daisy) are being made by Denis Bedford(DRB founder).

I think it looks bloody fantastic (and I do appreciate the history of the Cobra).

Subaru's are good too!

Hey guys…

Thought I would chime in here… I saw a lot of hits coming form this thread to my site.

Yeah this X Cobra has been getting a lot of attention lately. I truly like the design and overall concept. However I am not a big fan of putting a LS7 from a Z06 in it. Just seems to be a slap in the face to the Classic Cobra. Don’t get me wrong I love the Z06 but would rather see the LS7 in a redesign of the Cheetah rather than a Cobra.

Well I hope they can produce it like they say. There other cars have mostly been re-bodies of other cars.

I am working on a Cobra inspired concept as well, hope to have the prototype finished by mid 08. I wish I could get as much publicity as this Racer X Car. My car is not really intended to replace a Cobra it was just inspired by the classic looks along with several other cars. It’s more of a modern car with classic looks that seats tall people.
