Successfully passed enginering certification yesterday at second attempt (3dB over on noise first time). Still on a high today...
Congratulations also to Troy who I understand also passed. I have been constantly overwhelmed by how friendly and helpful this forum is and also the general Cobra community, thanks to you all. Also to Brian Crane at Homebush (never a regret at choosing the Homebush kit), Brett Hoy who is truly "cluey" (Brians term not mine), Rob Purchase and Neil Streeting who unselfishly gave me advice on how to pass the noise test. Next up - sort out proper wheels - forum prepare yourself for more stupid questions! |

I think youll surprise a few with the V6 - any feel for how it goes? Building a cobra at 22...bloody hell. That was my dream then, but took a few more years to get there! Congrats. :) |
i did an alloytech v6 into a vr
was a pain in the butt but went much better than orig v6 you can get the v6 tuned for more power but not as much adjustments yet in the software as they try to stick to making the tuning software for the v8s not the v6s |

I have a body control module, I understand that these have acceleration sensors, do you know whether they are on the circuit board? If so presumably the board has to be in a certain orientation. Also, do you know how many tone teeth are on the Commodore VZ front hub, I will need to replicate these if I am to get the ABS module working. |
Tenrocca, are you confusing my age with my "Posts?" - if so I've just turned 24!
No idea how it goes yet, the motor is pushed right back, 250mm from the windscreen to the centre of the motor, dont know if this will be good or bad for handling, felt OK yesterday during testing though. It will be interesting to see the weight distribution at the weighbridge. I suspect handling is as important as power which is why I would like to get the ABS, traction control and body contol working. I also have power brakes and IRS. Would appreciate any comments from the forum. |

not sur eon the front hub teeth
u need hub and abs sensors on all 4 wheels u might need the factory holden brake switch as new cars these days have aorund 3 or 4 switches on brake pedal never been asked to wire up abs but when i did an alloyech v6 the owner didnt supply full complete set of engine ecu body control module engine ecu auto ecu and pim if u have all of these from the same car then yr ok if not then u will need to get everyting linked took me ages to figure it out and get right machines and right people to do what i wanted but hopefully soon my machines will be able to do it all tryin to get everyting to talk to each other and a scanner to diagnose everyting is the pain in the butt stuff |

Sideshow, I kept everything from the SV6, including harness and IRS with rear sensors and 4 way ABS block.
Have put Hoppers brakes on the torana front, hence no tone wheel. All computers are talking to each other on the 2 data busses so I hope it will be fairly easy to put new tone wheel on the front. The Commodore front tone wheels are built into the hub and I havent been able to access them. I'll let you know how I get on. |
