On the road

Hi All

It is done!! On 9 January, I had an inspection with QT and (apart from a relatively major fuel leak that needed some immediate attention) everything went swimmingly. What a fantastic feeling of relief when the QT inspector says, "OK, park it over there and we'll go inside and do the paperwork."

Many thanks to all who helped me on this journey as well as all interested onlookers. Now time to get some miles on the road before starting on the 'finishing off' part of the project (which is likely to last for a few years I feel!).

Cheers

Geof

Well done Geof, that's a great achievement. :)

Can't wait to see it on the road with number plates attached.

No problem with the wooden wheel as long as the manufacturer got it ADR approved...which all the leading wheel manufacturers here do.

Geof

Whose rims have you got on the car in the picture Lobelly has posted here?

What sizes are they?

Cheers

Steve

Thanks

Thanks to all for your kind words (and to LoBelly for posting the photo!)

I am indeed very happy to have the car on the road.

Barker, the wheel is an Autotechnica which (as I understand it) has ADR approval for all their steering wheels. No problem at engineering or at transport inspection.

Steve, the rims are MILLAZ wine glass variety and are 16”x8” and 16”x10”. Pasquale (MILLAZ Wheels) advertises in the Snake Tales each edition so his contact details are there. I initially did not really want the knock offs fitted over the wheel nuts (that’s why they are not in this photo) but now that I have them on, they really do look the part.

Cheers to all

Well done...

Hi Geof,

Looks great, What colour is it (looks similar to the BMW Blue)

I hope to be in a similar position later in the year...:D:D

Colour

Stiffy

The colour is Impulse Metallic from the VY/VZ/VE Commodore range. I actually planned to buy a VZ Commodore SS in this colour (I reckon they look fantastic!) but bought the Cobra instead (NO REGRETS!!). So I thought it appropriate to paint the Cobra this colour. The stripes are HI HO silver, which is an HSV colour.

Cheers

Geof

Type of Paint

Nice work Geof, Tell me, did you paint in 2pak or acrylic?

May be some of the other Guys can perhaps offer their thoughts on the pros and cons of 2pak vs Acrylic (noting the obvious ones) :-)
