T-56 output shaft ?
How far into the gearbox housing from the end of the output shaft should the rubber seal be. I didnt take note when I pulled mine apart and it only appears to slide in about 35mm, which doesnt seem alot but may be right.
Doesnt seem a lot for the yoke to grab hold of when I have all that Chevy power feeding through ;).

Are you referring to the rubber shipping plug.
Tremec boxes when purchased new have a rubber bung in the rear to retain whatever oil was put into the box.
You pull it out and throw it away when installing the output yoke.
Cheers

Thanks Les - that may be all it is. Theres a red plug that obviously come out, but it didnt coccur to me light grey bung is also just a temporary fixture. doh.
Pete - I was going to just throw some banana skins in to keep her quiet - I heard that was quite popular with backyard mechanics in the 70's. Thats about when your engine comes from isnt it? Last millenium? :D
