How many LS7s are out there?

Hi all,

I'm curious, how many LS7's are out there either up and running or in the construction phase?

I've taken the plunge and would like to hear from any others who have gone the LS7 route...

Regards.....Paul

I'll second that :) ...actually a healthy LS2 with good heads, nice cam and valve springs would be the goods. $hitload cheaper :JEKYLHYDE

Hang on ..... That's wot I've got in the L76. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Heidlberg
Are you using the GM oil tank and ECU? Did you get the maffless tune aswell?

ptrefry 02-04-2008 02:39 PM

If you can keep a LS7 on the road or in a straight line, i take my hat off to you. Too much power and a short wheel base doesnt equate to a good car. Ask any race driver .
But it does make tyre companies VERY happy.
And as for Ford 9 inch diff's as good as they are the housings do break very easily.

Phil, I'm really looking forward to some-one posting their impressions.

Have you changed cams to take advantage of those nice heads?.

I've been told they can get a bit breathless above 5000RPM because of the tiny cam but that came from a ford mechanic so dunno if it's true.:3DSMILE:

Les,

Yes have fitted cam and hoping for around 420 RWHP and an engine with very different torque characteristics compared to the LS1.

Phil:)

I second that one Les... not sure I've heard any feedback on this forum from an L76/98 Cobra owner.

Sambo, I have no doubts the L76 will prove to be more than a stout performer. :)

I also have a cam change planned after rego but I'm real eager to hear about the torque characteristics.

I'm a little different to most of the L76 owners cuz my diff is a 3.31 behind a TR600, 5 speed.

I think most here are running the T56 and diffs lower ( higher numerically) than 3.5X.

Cheers

I am finishing a Cobra with aluminum backbone chassis, carbon fiber body, LS6 engine, T56 trans, Corvette Diff 3:42 gear converted to accept a driveshaft, and Corvette independent suspension. I am planning to put an LS7 in a second one but with a Daytona coupe body. The body is a fiberglass carbon fiber hybrid. It has a layer of glass to prevent print through and then a layer of carbon fiber for strength, stiffness, and to keep everything light. The finished car weighs 1900lbs. I'll let you know how it goes. I will be selling this car as a kit. Obviously a Ford engine can be used too.

ptrefry 02-07-2008 03:19 PM

Im using standard AU IRS falcon diff.
