RIP Boyd Coddington
I have just read about the passing of Boyd it is a sad time for all of us who are passionate about cars because he was the ultimate car nut .
If you have billet bling on your ride you can thank Boyd for the concept. Its not if but when you die make every day count and enjoy your life to fullest. oz. |
Very true. He certainly left a mark on the hobby. I prefer to think of him back in the 80s and 90s, as an innovator rather than what we've seen on TV over the last few years... Think Chezoom, Cadzilla, Alumacoupe. I remember back in the early 90s when all the guys in his shop downed tools for lunch, and let myself and a couple of mates walk unrestricted through the workshop for over an hour without a second thought.
I bought a set of his wheels - the first set of real "Boyds" that I'd ever seen in the flesh - in Brisbane just before I went on the trip to the States. Never mind that they were a Chev truck stud pattern, I just had them redrilled to suit. They're still on the car today. I was about to upgrade to 17s to fit some larger brakes, but the sentimental side of me now says not to change the wheels anytime soon... |
