New '08 chassis

For those interested, I have posted a few images of our new chassis on "my gallery". Sorry, but I could not post the images of the chassis on it's own as they are too large a file.

Cheers,
Ian

Looking good Ian.

You can link the pictures into a thread directly from your gallery. There's an instruction thread around here some where that explains how to do it.

Here's a couple linked in for you.

Ian,

The new chassis looks good :)Thanks mike for showing the photos:)

Ian , Have you had the engineering test done yet? how does the new chassis compare with the torsional and bending tests compared to the previous designs?

Regards,

Phil:)

The round tube looks great but I'd also be curious to see how the round tube compares to the old square tube design for twist etc. Is there any extra bracing inside the cockpit to tie the front to the rear?

Cheers

Hi Ian,
the new chassis looks great with the round tubing.
What does the diff and lower arms come from?
Will the front and rear setout of the suspension allow for dish to the rims as you would expect of a normal or real Cobra?

Regards.

Kanga 04-03-2008 11:33 PM

Mando, the bottom rear arms and diff looks to me like the new VE holden rears, hopefully their is plenty of dish in the rear. Might be time to sell and start again, the chassis looks great.

Hi Kanga, there is no way Im going to start again! Ill miss all the bull$hit when the cars finished in about 18 months but I couldnt do it again.

Mando, looking through your gallery I can see why you wouldn't want to start again.... your engine bay is a work of art!!! Awesome stuff :)

Mando, very nice gallery photos. What have you coated with the "Lizard Skin"?**)

Mando 04-05-2008 01:32 AM

Letsboogie351,
I used Lizardskin in the whole cockpit area including behind the seats and right around the footboxes. It ends up about the thickness of a credit card.

Regards.

Mando
I have had a bit of a search for this product but can see only US supply.
Did you find an Aussie supplier or ship it from the good ol' U S of A

Doug

If I recall Mando imported this. There is a thread on the topic with a couple of contributors that have used both the ceramic heat variant and the noise deadening type.

I haven't thought too much about this issue lately but i think it is worth the research to aid in noise and/or heat reduction. If you are heading down this track let me know as it might be worthwhile buying in bulk. Just a thought!

Cheers

Letsboogie351,
I got my Lizardskin direct from the guy that makes the stuff in the states, but since then Rocket Industries in Sydney sells it. If you end up using it, Ive got the spraygun youre supposed to use. Let me know and Ill send it to you.

Regards.

letsboogie351 04-06-2008 04:27 AM

Mando
thanks for the info. I am seriously thinking that this is the way to go. Cutting and pasting mat material around the car seems too arduous a task compared to spraying. Also thanks for the offer of the gun use.
Slowy, I will let you know what is happening in this regard, we can work out how much of the stuff we need.
Cheers
Doug

Doug,
Lizardskin only comes in one size. I used the whole bucket to do my interior.

Regards.
