Yes Mick they seem good value. I just called Eli and ordered mine. He sounds a really nice and very helpful guy. My cost was $1599.00 without shipping and handling (about $500-600).

I bought the 17inch knock ons from Vintage wheels (same as JCoop said) with hub adapters, wheels, spinners and caps and they were landed in Melbourne for $3000.00. This was a couple of years ago and they dollar is better now. Awesome looking set up, suit the Jag stud pattern but im sure the cater for many other stud patterns as well.

Just received my wheels from Vintage Wheel Works and tyres from Tire Rack.
Both were fantastic to deal with, Eli fromm VWW has the patience of a saint! Pics of the standard and spinnered wheels are in my gallery - they look even better in the flesh. You still get the standard cap even if you buy the spinners... The threaded spinner post fixes to the outside face of the wheel with 5 stainless bolts, the spinner screws on to the post and has a locking stainless grub screw. Wheels are 17 x 9.5 and 17 x 8. Tyres are 275/40 and 245/45 2 wheels were standard offsets and 2 were custom. Eli sent me a rim cross section drawing which I templated to check clearances on the car for the required offsets. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../DSC04174C.jpg |
Nice wheels Mart (Mat?). Same as mine. Can you tell me where you got your tyres (tires!) and how they were ordered? Was there a significant price saving?
many thanks, Merv |
Hi Merv. Great to hear the wheels worked out with your Harrison. Do you have any photos that you could post here or in your gallery please?
Cheers, Paul |

Paul - have sent you and email. I think the photos above by Martrogers show them very well. Let me know if you want more.
Merv |
Thanks Merv. And the inner pics you sent through also show them off nicely. Cheers!
|
No worries Paul. All I have to do now is decide which tyres! Any suggestions of brands and sources (e.g., Tyre rack contacts) welcomed!

I think Warwick & Co are big proponents of the Toyo Proxes as a good balance of road and track tyre. Affordable too, compared to other brands.

Tyres
Merv,
I bought my tyres from Tirerack.com in USA. Fred Helmuth was the guy I dealt with. fred@tirerack.com . He is true to his word and nothing is too much trouble. I had my tyres landed in Australia for $732 AUD. incl. postage and conversion from USD. thats 4 x tyres. i.e.The Sumitomo 235/40/17 HTR Z II were $79.00 per tyre for the fronts and rears Sumitomo 275/40/17 HTR Z II were $96.00 per tyre. 5 days after ordering and payment was accepted. I priced them in town and the 4 tyres would have been $1400!!! regards Mick Quote:

Mart short for Martin... Got the tyres from Tire Rack, the famous Fred Helmuth (couldn't apologise enough for taking a whole 2 days to reply to my email!) This is his recommendation and the costs, you can see the tyre review on their site, I asked for a recommendation on a general purpose driving (not racing) tyre: The Sumitomo HTRZ III is a new tire that people don't know about yet, but it has killer performance and it is under priced compared to the rest of the market. More importantly, it outperformed the other tires in the market. I was unable to secure better rates by having you pick the order up at the warehouse. They will deliver to the shipping address you provided. The costs for the 275/40/17 Sumitomo HTR Z III is $115.00 each. You requested 2 tires The cost for the 245/45/17 Sumitomo HTR Z III is $99.00 each. You requested 2 tires The shipping quotes we received to Australia are as follows. Fed Economy is the least expensive @ $298.60 FEDX EXPRESS (1-3 DAYS) - $ 422.26 SHIPPING METHOD FIP FEDX ECONOMY (3-5 DAYS) - $ 298.60 SHIPPING METHOD FIE I assume you want me to use Fed Economy 3-5 days for $298.60 + $428.00 for the tires would be a total cost of $726.60. |
That is unbelievable value guys. Has anyone driven on the Sumitomo HTR Z II/IIIs yet?
|
Many thanks Martin (!) I will order some as well. What is the address or location of Fred's Tire rack?
