No Room in the Shed... :-(
I like to keep my shed for doing sheddy stuff so I've come up with this for the Cobra...
The clicking sound is the red safety ratchet stay. This will be modified when I am confident of it not collapsing on me! It should go quicker with a new battery, hope to keep it topped up by solar power, operated by remote. Now just need to clad. Hope this link works... http://www.youtube.com/v/bAIpvSnkBHQ&hl=en |
Not a bad idea.
Have you got your rego yet? Cheers, Ben |
Dont ask.... - Blue Slip is still at the RTA, awaiting VIN.
|
Got to do something while waiting for your rego. What do the neighbours think it is?
|
Probably a simple answer
Ok I'll ask what is it?
Cheers, Bryan |
A "cobra cocoon"......cool :)
|
Sorry, but do you drive up the ramps from inside the garage and then the cover goes over it..
|
No Bernie I think it lifts up and you drive under it?
|
Yep, you drive in towards the left.
The bonnet scoop sits under the counterbalance springs. The front doors open to the right of the fixed part allowing you to get out and get anything out of the boot. The movable part then closes back down over the car and is locked down to the driveway slab. What could possibly go wrong! |
Check your welds! There is an exteeme amount of stress on the connections for the hydraulic ram and pivot points. Easier to check now.
|
You're absolutely right Rick - I calculate the ram force required to be of the order of 2 Tonnes. I have resolved these bigger forces with struts and ties rather than putting members (and welds) in bending.
The "ram" is actually driven through a 12v car winch and pully arrangement, this multiplies the winch capacity of 660kg by 5 times With 50 x 50 x 3mm box sections and a 3mm fillet weld the ultimate tensile capacity of a joint is of the order of 6 tonnes which allows for my less than perfect welding. I will be testing with overloads before putting my Cobra under it! |
martrogers
Aaah I thought soooo..:3DSMILE: Hope it does not go down whilst you are in the Cobra under it - I can see the little lady leaving you there.. |
