ADR Aprroved low back bucket seats with removeable headrests
After driving my car and looking at the big ugly yellow seat in it I have decided that I dont want to keep it that way any longer, I have high back race style bucket seat that I was going to have in the car when presented for rego.
I am wanting a low back bucket seat, black in color with removeable headrests. Does anyone know of a supplier of this style seat that is ADR approved and has the required paperwork or tag? Or does anyone know of a supplier of a kit to make the seats from? Ie frame that I would need to get padded and covered? |

Revolution Racegear The problem however, is that they are FIA tagged but not ADR tagged. According to Revolution, this isn't a problem as most engineers have an approval chart for FIA conversion to ADR's and that heaps of folks have fitted them with engineer approval. This seat also requires a 5mm alloy plate base between the seat and the runner/fixing to the car to be ADR compliant. Check with your engineer I spose. |

Check out my pic's I just fitted two as mentioned seats to my car on the weekend and then pulled them out again :eek::eek::eek: They are ADR approved removable head rests and are made to order in beautiful leather, they are about $2200.00 INC G.S.T. Mine are dark grey and you could buy them as i no longer fit into them properly...
Theywere ADR approved in 2002, and i would have the tags. |

Hey guys, thanks for the concern but you will note that I am asking for headrests, the type that you can remove. Like when the car is on display?
As you will note I do allready have seats that will get me through rego (that have the headrests), so if I wanted to drive around without headrests then I could just buy the Revolution racegear seat without the headrests and fit them after rego. Instead I am willing to pay the extra it costs to have the headrests. Please read all of the post before jumping to conclusions, for as the old saying goes, we know what happens when you Assume. It can make an ASS out of U or ME. |
Boxhead, the "Cub" seats from revolution racegear (actually Cobra Seats, UK) come with optional head rests. More importantly they're a period look and only 445mm at their widest.

Just looking at some of the fixed race type seats I think, with the adjustable bolts to enable the seat to be rotated through various degrees of recline.
Does anyone have experience of how hard or easy it is to make that recline adjustment? Is it a simple matter of four bolts being undone from captive nuts, seats repositioned as needed and then refitting the bolts, or is there more to it? I do recognise the issues with access to the transmission tunnel side bolts but am just curious if there is much to adjusting these seats. Cheers |

I've been using fixed back race seats (ADR approved) I've got them on runners but I'm also using the L shaped brackets and the bolts thru the side to hold them in place. It's pretty straightforward to undo the bolts and reposition the seta to raise and lower it front and back. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../New_Seats.jpg I like Boxhead am looking at more road friendly seating options. I'll keep the race seats as they are great on track days but I want something a bit more civilized for day to day driving. Cheers |
