Problems with an Aussie company?

Some weeks ago my brother and me decided to buy a wideband O2 controller, he needs it for tuning his motorcycle carbs, I need it for the Cobra.

After looking at several products, we decided to buy the 2J1 from Tech Edge ( WBo2.com WIDEBAND AFR/LAMBDA (Tech Edge) ).

Communication with Tech Edge was very easy before the ordering process, so my brother paid via credit card on March 11.

After about 2 weeks my brother e-mailed to Tech Edge asking for the status of the order. The dispatch manager Dianne wrote back that the package had left on March 11 and we should receive it soon.

Up to today the package did not get delivered. Tech Edge won't answer any E-mails, also I can't register in their user forum because they won't send an e-mail confirmation to activate my account.

Did some of you guys here buy anything from Tech Edge before and if so, did you encounter any similar problems? Their products look great and the homepage gives the impression of a reputable company, so I didn't expect anything like this.

Two points....

1. Have you just tried picking up the phone and calling them?

2. For the moment, as we have done in other situations like this, I am changing the title of your thread...until more info from you becomes available.

It's not clear yet that you were "ripped off."

Concerning the term "ripp off": I still hope the controller will arrive, I urgently need it to adjust the carbs after changing to a single plane intake. But having paid the product more than 2 months ago and still waiting for it doesn't give me much hope this will turn out good. Especially since the seller won't reply to e-mails no more.
As I already wrote I tried to register in the tech edge forum several times, however they won't send me the e-mail to activate my account.

I, too, hope you haven't been ripped off.

Maybe on Monday a.m., one of the local guys can give them a call just to see if they are still a going concern.

You might want to look into Skype, where, with a headset/mic on your PC, you can call them for small change. ;)

I just recently went through almost exactly the same problem & lack of progress with a company. (Not Cobra related.)

Was finally told that they would try to trace it after 30 days !
Unacceptable.

Called the Credit Card Co.,and told them I didn't care to pay for something I never received. They right then and there yanked the funds from the company in question.

The next day I receved an e-mail saying they were sorry for the problem (yeah, not having my money anymore !)
I told them I really would like to have their product. They shipped again, got it in TWO (2) days.
Called Credit Card Co. and told them to release the funds to the company.

Worked out great !

Frankly 2 months and their lack of response deserves some action on your part to move this forward.

I live in Canberra where Tech edge is and will call on Monday if you like. Pm me any details that you think I might need.

I bought a 2AO WB O2 and display from Tech Edge a few years back. They seemed OK to deal with. The item arrived inside a week and they were helpful on the phone.

Did you get them to just send it in the post or via a courier service like FedEx?

Give them a call.

Cheers

Aussie Mike

I sent them an email for Simon to Tech Edge - their site address - and suggested that they need to follow up.

I highlighted that their business name and link was on one of the worlds largest auto forums.

It's been a week and I did not get a response.

MMmmm, it's starting to sound like this company will not get a lot of business if they keep this up..%/

Brett,

Thanks, yes may not have responded to my email as you spoke with them. Good news I hope?

Yesterday tech edge finally contacted me.

Friendliness and customer service doesn't seem to be their strong point, however they are offering to resent the package if I pay for shipping. Seems like this will turn out good after all!

I really want to thank Brett and Bernie for their help and support! If I ever can pay you back for this just let me know.

Good outcome

Good to hear that this was sorted out.

Simon, you may end up with 2 kits now.

I have seen that happen.

I rebuilt a mustang for my cousin and all of the people I dealt with, except two, (who were perfect gentlemen) required me to ring them. They all promised positive results regarding parts supply but they all had short memories. I had to constantly ring them. It seems to be a trait amongst these blokes. Just keep ringing them.
One other that I couldn't get hold of turned out to be in jail in california for exporting "hot" mustangs. he returned the money though....a squeaky wheel gets the oil.
