Making my own wheels

Hi all after searching the globe for a set of pin drive Vintage wheels to fit my Classic Revival, I have decieded to build my own.
I have one of 2 options.
Option 1 . Scratch build the pattern .
Option 2 . Borrow a wheel and pull a silicone mold .
Option 2 is a hell of lot easier and quicker.
So i'm making a call out to anyone in Sydney who as a 15", 5 pin halibrand style wheel i can borrow for 2 days.
The wheel will not get marked in anyway (as silicone doesnt stick to anything).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Paul

Paul, how about considering just narrowing the track of your CR? That way you can use cheap quality off the shelf pin-drive wheels from someone like Vintage Wheels US or someone else if you can manage their backspacing.

I just recently made pin-drive hubs for my Jag front end. By fitting larger brakes I was able to move my wheels in 30mm each side. I used 310mm rotors, 2 piston PBR calipers which all fitted under 15" wheels.

Then see what's involved in narrowing that rear end.

I expect Mike can explain the pros & cons of such work on a CR.

At least by narrowing the track you won't have the problem of the spinners sticking out like a Roman Chariot.

Just a thought, although maybe you have already considered this option.

Hi Paul,

Will making your own wheels present you a with a challenge at registration?

I know that one of the questions that my Engineer asked at teh initial inspection was evidence that the wheels were stamped J or JJ?

Regards......Paul

I had thought of altering the rear but its a lot of work, i'm guessing its easier to make wheels.
As for rego Paul I'm lucky that i've need registrated for 2 years.
Thanks again
